With the left calling for the censorship of all conservative voices, the re-education (Or better labeled brainwashing) of dissident voices, the drive to ensure dissident voices cannot find employment and the attempt to run anyone out of business who doesn't pass a political litmus test; those who love freedom and want to ensure our pride in diverse views survives should remind themselves we've had days of dark hatred in our past.  And we survived.

How long do you think this era of cultish behavior the left has rained down on our society will last? I see it running a course but not being permanent.  But,  I'm a glass half full kind of thinker.

I agree with you... Obama made an attempt to kick-off his brand of censorship and started to promote far-left ideas.  One of the biggest reasons Trump was attractive to so many. Joe is making an attempt to pull the band back together. That never quite works out as a rule.

Liberals are turning into the John Birch Society. It's eerily reminiscent of Cold War McCarthy-ism. After WWII, the war machine needed a new enemy to keep humming, and those in power wanted to divide and conquer the coalition of communists, socialists, and trade unionists, who had organized thousands of protests and strikes and forced FDR to implement Social Security as part of the New Deal. So they held the Hearings on Un-American Activities, dragged leftists before congress, and asked if they were communist, knew any communists, or had attended any meetings. Leftists were placed on employment blacklists, jettisoned from unions, and chased out of the country entirely.
As we saw with Russiagate, the real aim is to censor the internet, funnel traffic to corporate media, and silence voices who offend the government narrative on war, policing in America, and our fraudulent elections.
The J6 events are being used to expand a domestic war on terror, and label any group of protesters as terrorists, should a few bad actors or agent provocateurs break a window.
It's been done to Black liberation and environmental activists for decades. They are framing J6 in a manner which conditions authoritarian liberals to join with establishment Republicans in establishing tools and mechanisms which will always primarily be used against the left, who want to tax the rich, use anti-trust to break apart their monopolies, and make them pay their workers a living wage
Establishment Democrats know the history of this country. But their entire job is to work with Republicans to keep the actual left out of power. And the corporate media help them convince liberals to join in

In my opinion, this is so much nonsense. Anyone truly understanding the McCarthy Era and the actions associated with the history would not make such specious comparisons.

So, really, is it just the social media stuff, that conservatives say are stifling their messages and opinions?

Any links for some background? Who knows, I may be persuaded because I don't like censorship in principle

I know many view project Veritas in an unfavorable light but I find investigative undercover journalism to be in line with the classic definition of that profession. Comments by Jack Dorsey are beyond troubling. Suppression of free speech, planned over a period of time, is not in line with American values. Couple that with his condemnation of another country suppressing Twitter during an election and it would be laughable, if not so sad.

We have companies that are not doing business with other companies considered to be owned by conservatives. We can all laugh at the mattress guy, but the left pushing companies to censor other companies over a difference of agreement in politics is no different from the way the Nazi party demonized Jewish businesses.

Branding anyone who voted for Trump with filthy and dehumanizing rhetoric, as our left leaning politicians are doing, is no different from the dehumanizing of individuals necessary prior to the implementation of genocidal policies.

The multifaceted attack on Parler is another example. The attack on the #Walkaway group is also especially troubling. Closing the Facebook account is odd. But simultaneously closing accounts of all employees and affiliates is crazy, and telling.

Big tech refuses to specifically explain their attacks on individuals.

The news media is also in cahoots. I watched a CNN segment where they were calling for censure of podcasts. Why? There primary complaint was that podcasts had a higher viewer base than CNN. They are suggesting companies determine the value of the information shared based solely on the political leaning of the person. It's insanity.

You can certainly put your head in the sand because the bigotry, censorship and disregard for basic civil liberties does not affect you but every American should be afforded the same privileges. Without a collective determination to stand for the rights of all, all will eventually lose any rights,at all.
