Over the past 60 years, how has American culture & society gotten better ?  How has the same culture & society has gotten worse?   Do you believe that America has overall become better or do you believe the opposite?   Do you believe that the best in America is yet to come or do you believe that America will be unrecognizable for the worst?

it's hard to say what Aquarius will bring for the world in general. But it is all over as we know it.

Aquarius will bring us the most amazing beautiful times.

Like Spainish flu to the Roaring 20s. With the greedy bought down a notch or two.

Some say that Atlantis was here in America.
Atlantis is rising again, (as it has been rising in the last 150 years) in the age of Aquarius. There's no keeping American down.
          So, that's good.

it will bring creativity the world has never seen. It will bring the wonders of artificial intelligence embedded in cars, homes and robots. Energy efficient vehicles will carry passengers to wherever they want to go with the punch of keys. They will also be programed by employers to pick up employees to bring them to their places of employment.

Oh yes, it well be a heaven on earth. It will be virtual gratification of every sense. It will be imagination on steroids. It will be an explosion of endless possibility and indulgence on every level.

Some people will have a real challenge: how to stay in touch with their very souls. The sense of Self will become blurred with a sense of ego or avatar.

And you know what I am talking about. Keep your souls and hang on for the ride of lifetimes. How long will it last? Until the age of Capricorn?
Where harsh lessons will be learned, where discipline will be required, where the wild ride will abruptly stop. Where serious work of acknowledging concrete reality will be the only thing that will save mankind.

I wonder when the age of Capricorn will be. I'll be back, then.

Surprisingly, I believe we are quickly moving into a better world.
It will never be as bad as it ever was, or is now.
I believe the majority of us take the positivity and greatness that we experience on a daily basis for granted.
      Our lives are better.

Whoever misses this happy fact needs to have their eyes and souls examined.

One might point out the homeless situation, but I believe this population has landed on the streets because they have been negligent on many levels. One level involves a way too easy life where motivation, a sense of urgency and a vision toward a successful future was not promoted by either parents or schools.

Also, modern man finds himself dumbed down through no fault of his own. The people with the skills, knowledge and motivation, who invented all the conveniences that exist in this modern world are dead and gone. The generations that follow have become so used to lives of ease, that they have become lazy and entitled. What do they have to work for? What in their environment makes them yearn and consequently work toward a better life?

Nothing. They have it all: Cars, credit cards, ready made and fast food, washing machines, garage door openers, security systems, microwaves, wonderful ovens and refrigerators, etc.
And now there are smart homes where at the push of buttons even the coffee is made before you even walk in your door.

Of course, we are becoming dumb and dumber. Only when there are needs to fulfill is there a motivation to improve one's life and in the process become smarter, more aware and enlightened. Kids are too lazy to even write properly thanks to the myriad of screen-technologies dominating their little lives both at home and school.

Thanks, all you brilliant inventors who have continuously contributed toward the improvement of our modes of transportation, communication and energy distribution throughout the last couple of centuries.

... including Steve jobs who advocated entrepreneurship. That's all good, Steve, but what about a society where the government takes away all possibility and incentive to start and grow one's own business?

      wondering.

"Over the past 60 years, how has American culture & society gotten better ?"

Focusing on America, and not the world at large.

      From 1960 to 2020.

I would say there was an improvement from 1960 to 1990-95 across the board in all areas for all people.

I would say since 1990-95 to present day there has been a pull-back in progression for almost all Americans across the board, in most areas.

Unionized jobs have greatly declined, benefits to employees has declined.

Wages (for those not in top management spots) have declined when considering the value (purchasing power) of the dollar and the rise in cost of living.

Many jobs pay less hourly wages and benefits today, than they did in the 1980s.  Considering the devaluation of the dollar since that time, this is a serious cutback.

Consider that in the mid 1980s a shelf stocker working at Stop & Shop was likely a Union Worker that made about $20 an hour and had full Blue Cross Blue Shield medical and dental coverage.  Co-pays were minimal, deductibles almost non-existent, Insurance actually covered most medical bills.

Fast forward to today, that same shelf stocker is likely making $15 dollars an hour, doesn't have medical insurance, or does so at a huge cost coming out of their paycheck, that insurance has large deductibles, and often there is no dental or vision associated with it.

So while technology has grown by leaps and bounds, from computers to microwaves to cell phones... overall our quality of life, our economic security, and societal norms and niceties IMO have declined in recent decades.

COVID-19... 19... 19... 19.... . Only period in my lifetime, for most Americans and for most of the world. It been overall the worse time across the map.

Its a wake up call, for humanity to reach for a higher energy level of good times and kindness.

Technological Revolution destroyed our society and stripping our humanity and I truly believe that we already knew this would happen.  It’s not the end of the world that we had in our heads but this is the road to battle of good and evil as the earth had enough of us and throws a tantrum that ultimately we are the next to go extinct at some point on the massive scale the dinosaurs did...just saying

    This is a good question.

I believe the entire world is different now than it was 60 years ago.  There is technology, knowledge and ways of doing things that were unheard of 60 years ago.  All the technology has been a blessing and a curse.  It's the same with all new technology.

Has American gotten better or worse?  I would say it is an example of a changing society that is occurring around the world.

I meet kids in their 20s who make absolutely no sense to me.  They seem like they're from another planet.  I also meet kids in their 20s who are articulate, intelligent and aware of all the things going on in society.  The first group makes me want to give up, and the second group fills me with hope for the future.

I won't see it, but I wonder what the United States will be like 60 years from now. The only thing I know for certain is that changes will continue to occur that nobody today anticipates, just like 60 years ago.
