What do you see as America's future?   Do you believe that things will become progressively worse, descending into total desolution? Others, do you contend that things will become temporarily worse & then become better in time?   Or do some of you maintain that things will become much better than it has been?

In my view, the nation finds itself fractured by starkly contrasting ideologies. The divergence between the left and right has led to a divergence in values and ethics, eroding the possibility of finding any common ground. The prospects for reconciliation appear grim, and I anticipate a further deterioration. This polarization seems enduring, rather than a passing phase, with little hope for meaningful dialogues. Witnessing the decline of our ambitious social experiment is disheartening.  From my perspective, it's evident that this experiment has faltered. Both political factions appear to prioritize exerting control over the populace, rather than serving our best interests.

I mean just look around with clear open eyes at what is going on in Washington, and what we the people defend, and put up with... It is almost funny if it were not so sad.   Gosh, when did we become so credulous?

I appreciate your acknowledgment. You know as I wrote my comment I realized how very dispiriting it sounded. However, I feel I was truthful.

I think individuals will openminded clear "look it all in the face kind of thinking" will continue to do fine. But, I see little hope for the "a come together moment".

Pretty funny!  But if my husband pulled a head shake -- one might witness more of a Jerry Springer show reaction,  than a  Famly Fued chuckle. Kick off shoes and all.  LOL

My Mom had a label for that kind of man --- "A man with a paper ass."

However, maybe share some insight on Grace's query.  Or are you a head shaker?

        This is by design.

This is what is fed to you by American MSM.

They feed you the topics that tear the American people apart.

The Politicians play their part in this too... passing Executive Orders and new Bills that work their way into everyday American lives, without regard to what the majority want or think about it.

Don't want your 7 year old daughter exposed to male genitalia in the school's locker rooms... too bad, stop being a bigot.

Your son Johnny thinks he might want to be a girl, and you want to stop him from getting a sex change... to bad, the government is going to protect his rights to a sex change whether you like it or not.

There is a reason why the pot continues to be stirred... why the accusations and divides are never ending... you might begin to question why we are endlessly at war... you might question why we are more concerned with Ukraine than our own border that has millions crossing it a month. You might wonder why San Fransisco in a matter of years went from a jewel of American cities to looking like a South African shanty town.

The divides are constantly being fed and reinforced, by your media, by your politicians, by design.  By those that are at the top and have been for decades now in DC, and in the MSM.

The overwhelming majority of Regular Americans... those not living in DC... those not part of the caustic Media centers in LA and NY... do not share these beliefs and divisions.

        Correct.

And almost everything you are told by your politicians and media is propaganda.

They tell you that Ukraine is winning the war against Russia, this is a bold lie, there is no truth to it.  However we are earnestly attacking parts of Russia in hopes of provoking WWIII.

        Why?

Because our economy (that of the UK and EU as well) is on its last legs, the run of our fiat currency is at its end, the only solution for these fools to maintain their wealth and power is to evoke a war with Russia, so that we a can steal their wealth of natural resources; so we can keep the BRICS alliance from successfully replacing the dollar.

I honestly do not know how to answer this Grace.
I have always been an optimist, especially when it comes to America, believing that we can and will...beat the odds, every time!
But lately, I have my doubts.

I was out tonight looking for a pair of work boots; I was looking for a pair made anywhere but in China. There weren't any! An associate asked if I needed assistance, I described my dilemma, but she didn't understand. She said all of their boots are made in China as if...sooo what!? This was at an Outdoor World/Cabela's. People were buying up the Chinese-made boots, left and right. Guess I shouldn't have been shocked!?! Is it old school now, to look for items actually made in the U.S.A....and if that is too much to ask for, how about, made anywhere other than China?!

I am in Florida, not too far, as the seagull flies from Cuba. China is actively building up, both Militarily and in Intelligence Operations...in Cuba, and no one seems to care. Not hearing a lot of chatter!

Just read some stats about Black Rock and their dominance/influence, etc....suffice it to say, "Scary stuff" and I'll leave it there for now.
Don't want to give everyone nightmares. sad

Grace, those are some questions promoting insightfulness. I must confess, my first reaction is "I see hope!" Yet, perhaps, that is because today I may have a feeling of hopelessness. What does that say? Maybe I am searching for something better than . . .

Automatically, today, my mind jumps to the economy and the political climate, which I feel both are on rocky ground. Yet, that is from a subjective viewpoint. Realizing that I went on an adventure to see what others think looking closely at the new and rising generations, which are our future, right? What do they think?

Gen Z (Born 1997 - 2012)  teens would be a place to start. A recent survey by the Washington Post and Ipsos says:

75% say the U.S. is the best or one of the best countries to live
48% feel now is a good time to be growing up
43% are confident the best years are ahead
Of that 43% white teens are less confident at 38%, black teens is 48% while Hispanic is 49%. Asian have the greatest confidence at 64%
59% identified political division as a major threat
Only 34% were concerned about career opportunity
Only 28% were concerned about access to education
46% expect to have more opportunities than their parents
Only 16% expect to have less opportunities
90% expect to have a good standard of living
Half believe they will be rich when they grow up
76% of black teens believe they will be rich when they grow up while 68% of Asians do

And, then comes the social outlook as observed by the article's author. It states:

"A question worth asking is why Asian and Black teens are so much more bullish on their futures than White teens. After all, our country has historically given preferential treatment to Whites, and many argue that it continues to do so today. Given those facts, shouldn’t Whites be more optimistic about their futures? The answer might lie in Asian and Black teens’ perception of “gaining something” in the future versus White teens’ perception they will “lose something.” Whether those perceptions turn out to be true, today’s teens will be living out their futures soon enough."

Note: The Thomas B. Fordham Institute is a right-leaning organization.

Children are out future and in places they are being indoctrinated into ignorance.
Florida has just approved using controversial animated videos created by an unaccredited, right-wing group as supplemental teaching materials.
The videos are the creation of PragerU, an organization founded by conservative radio host Dennis Prager.
One of the videos, which has recently gone viral on social media, utilizes Columbus as a means of instructing students about slavery.

"Slavery is as old as time and has taken place in every corner of the world," the fictional Columbus says in one of the videos. "Even among the people I just left"
The video continues: "Being taken as a slave is better than being killed, no? Before you judge, you must ask yourself, 'What did the culture and society of the time treat as no big deal?'"
The Pensacola News Journal reports that in another PragerU video, two children travel back in time to meet Frederick Douglass, the most famous leader of the abolitionist movement to end slavery. In the video, the animated version of Douglass — who was enslaved himself and recounted being brutalized numerous times — seemingly sympathizes with the notion of slavery, calling it a "compromise."
The News Journal reports that another video in the PragerU Kids collection compares protesters in the Black Lives Matter movement "to Mexican cartel members."

The kicker? DeSantis   has said Florida backs "education not indoctrination," though the founder of PragerU has explicitly said the content created by his company is meant to indoctrinate children.

This trash is nothing more than propaganda full of lies and half-truths specifically designed to manipulate and mold young minds to serve a rightwing political agenda. It's disgusting.

Somehow I don't believe that the framers of our Constitution intended that the "constitutional right to free speech" be taken this far. As a journalist, we were taught that with freedom of speech comes responsibility. Todays yellow dog journalism doesn't measure up, and social media seems to have shot it all to blue blazes. There is a fine line between free speech and the yellow dogs. I hope the courts get it straightened out, but I doubt that they will.

We all know that Prager is just a right wing diploma mill.

It is interesting how quickly DeSantis allows for the introduction of clearly right wing propaganda into the curriculum, while dismissing or diluting  the truth about the Peculiar Institution. As a black male living here, I see only rising contention and bad tidings ahead. DeSantis is deliberately antagonizing our groups and we will do everything to punish him and his political party for that at the polls, as there now can no longer be any doubt as to his intent. I have always recognized the signs and know where they are leading.

What was once the kooky fringe is now the base of the GOP all the way down to the inane "Great Replacement Theory". The Republican Party just reinforces my very worse thoughts regarding white America as to the direction that its fears and insecurities will take us all if Trump and his authoritarians are allowed to win again. Look at the tyrant of Hungary who the GOP invited to speak at a CPAC a couple of years ago. This authoritarian is to be the ideal model for a Making America Great Again? Rest assured that they will not have their desire to return to an America of "Ozzie and Harriet" without a commensurate conflict with the Left, in general, and with me and mine in particular.

In this culture, with the surreptitious attitudes of whites to stay in control or wallow in that perception, everything and everyone else is expendable. Democracy, included.....

Of course, I am not referring to ALL of YOU, but there are far too many, more than I would have expected. Otherwise, someone like Donald Trump, his movement and his outrages could not continue to be so politically palatable.

I've always wondered why history books don't mention the thousands of blacks who owned slaves.  I think this is essential is proving that slavery is something that crossed all racial lines.

"Black Master. It is difficult to digest, but numerous records indicate that thousands of free people of color in the antebellum South did in fact own slaves. Not only did they own slaves but, in some instances, they harshly disciplined and sold their slaves. In other instances, they treated them well and ultimately freed them. How and why they acted as they did was bound with the reasons why they became “Black Masters” in the first place."

It's true Mike. In fact, a black man was the first to become a slave owner in the new America.
With a quick Google search, naturally, the attempts to cover it up, top the list, but history is history. Facts are facts. One just  has to get past what they want us to see, in order to get to the truth.

I've also wondered why history books don't also include how Native American bought and sold African slaves.  It was quite a common practice.  Here is a book about just one tribe and the African slave trade.  This is never mentioned by anyone for some reason.

"Slavery, Emancipation, and Citizenship in the Native American South

From the late eighteenth century through the end of the Civil War, Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians bought, sold, and owned Africans and African Americans as slaves, a fact that persisted after the tribes' removal from the Deep South to Indian Territory. The tribes formulated racial and gender ideologies that justified this practice and marginalized free black people in the Indian nations well after the Civil War and slavery had ended."

In my view, to start we need to get Democrats out of the White House. The majority of our serious problems occurred in the past few years. We clearly need a party that respects the people, and the Constitution. We now have clearly a party that has weaponized several Federal agencies to do their bidding.  This administration has clearly leaned into communism using very corrupt actions to control "we the people".

Sort of the opposite of how Democrats push --- Abortion is the answer.      Maybe rephrase that statement --   " Choose Abortion It can offer you happiness".  I feel pushing abortion and having women become accustomed to ignoring the killing part is very tragic.  Very much like a form of brainwashing.

            Propaganda goes both ways.

I was responding to your allegations of Democrats being communists.  What actions do you believe indicate that, as you say, they are leaning into communism?  Regardless, in my example only one form of government, communist is imposing its will upon the people.  Abortion is an option is not imposing government will like it is in forced birth. My fault for using this example. At any rate, calling the Democratic party akin to Communism is pretty serious. I'd also be interested to hear the actions you believe Democrats have taken that disrespect the Constitution?
