I just read an article in the National Observer declaring it racist to consider Covid originated in a lab. I’m not adding a link, since we all heard this said when the possibility of such was labeled a conspiracy theory.

Can anyone explain how suggesting a government did something secretive and then scrambled to cover it up, that ended up hurting people, is racist?  Is anyone really that stupid?

Unfortunately yes some people are that stupid. In my view, I don't find it racist to attribute or assign China blame for the COVID vitus. It originated in a lab in China and spread throughout the world.  And China ultimately is responsible for their carelessness.

This virus in no way can be blamed on a race of people, it can be blamed on a Government that allowed this form of research, and the carelessness of people in the Wuhan lab.

        well, Yes.
but many governments, including our own are conducting this type of research in the name of defending their nations.
This type of research is really terrible. An understatement.
This research should be permanently stopped and all work on biological weapons should cease.
Destroy the germs, burn the labs, a world-wide peace agreement must be made.

        Yeah, right.
What a wretched planet this truly is.
... well the people, not the planet.
well,  the governments, not the people.
well, the bad guys in government, not the governments,
        unless they a r e  bad.

A few Americans are harder on the Chinese lately.

It's who is making a killing from it, is my most concern.

If I do not want to date people of other races and I do not want my children to date people of other races, than I suppose I am racist.

    oh well.

In light of the above forum: My Rat Terrier would become wildly excited to see other dogs of his own kind. He would try to hump the females. He would never behave this way with other dogs. Was he racist?

      Yes? Oh well.

My point is if we accurately accuse China of creating and releasing a deadly virus and others want to claim it is racism, oh well. We deal with it. It is not so bad to be called racist especially in the light of reality.

Now, if Americans start socking Asians in the head, this is criminal. That it happens only to Asians we could call racist, but why don't we just call it criminal and leave the word, racist out?
Why pinpoint it? What good does it actually do?

Pinpointing a word and using it to bully others and others accepting the bullying is evidence of the stupidity of human nature on all sides.

When I say "oh well" it is because I do not know how to stand up to the bullying.

How can we stand up to newspapers like the National Observer?
Or any other source which pinpoints such negativity, to the detriment of all?

Until we can, we just accept the label on an outward level and know that, on an inward level, we are  N O T  racist
      at all.

I happen to know I am not racist. My individual preferences are my right. I do not wish anyone less than 100% joy.

The Chinese people, culture and heritage are amazing. I know this because I have studied Asian Art history. Why would I wish the Chinese people anything less than 100% joy?  Why would I wish ANY ONE of other cultures and places anything less than the good that life on earth has to offer?

Date more women of colour than whites.

      I must be a racist.

      I must be a racist.

What is worse, being a snob or being a racist?

Actually, pointing out either label is unproductive to social harmony and harmful to the human psyche.

Or you might just be a human being that looks at others plainly as other human beings.

Ok. Although I freely admit I believe people bandy the word racist around far too freely, that comment you made while linking to a hub article, or forum, does sound racist.

You are entitled to your perception.

      Oh well.

But what good does it actually do to pinpoint what you believe to be evidence of racism?

      You get to feel superior?
You get to be in a bad mood?
You get to put down the responder of a forum question?
