Here is a link to the rap song "Snow Flake."

This is significant because it espouses conservative ideas. I always knew there were members of the younger generation who could see liberals for what they are and this song proves me right. I believe there are more of them than I realize.
Here is an article about the song.
You may be unfamiliar with the artist at the top, however, a Canadian rapper named Tom MacDonald. His song “Snowflake” is at No. 1 — and it’s definitely not your average left-friendly song.
What’s telling is that when it happens, people not only get upset, people listen, too. And people are clearly listening to Tom MacDonald — music that plays to a rap beat, and a message that’s rare enough in the popular culture today.

I mean, if you want to be associated with this music and the type of people who enjoy it I won't judge too harshly. The message makes sense, it is factual, but the way it is being presented makes me want to cover my face in embarrassment. I also cannot find this ranked on any meaningful music charts, just #3 on Youtube and #1 on itunes, but I don't even really know how to search that context in any meaningful way. I'd be interested to see the data on every purchase/download.
Another note, I'd never want to be caught listening to this in any way, shape, or form not because of its message, but because it sounds like Hollywood Undead if HU was even more teeny-bopper. If this is the way to get to the youth, well, I guess go out and get to the youth. Listening to his other songs, though, he sounds like he is just "fronting" this attitude for a shtick.
I'm doubly questioning this because Youtube normally keeps this stuff down to the best of their ability, and I question whether or not this guy will do a total 180 in the future.
I come at it from the perspective that the younger generation grasps the reality of what is happening in the United States. This song proves it. I don't listen to rap music. I know nothing about it, but I was impressed with the lyrics. They're spot on. So, on some level, it gives me hope for the future.
I'll drop my cynicism and say that is a good perspective to take.
This is what most people would call "meme music", though, and I'm afraid it has no longevity unless he can maintain a fresh and hard-hitting outlook. I'd never even heard of the guy until you posted this, and it is because his style is very niche. I predict he'll switch up his style, or abandon producing music when the virality wears off.
Profound... pretty much covers it all, and differently, all ring true to me. Sometimes putting something to music can really work well to wake up one's common sense. Thanks' for sharing.
I know that the Portland/Seattle/LA rioters get a lot of attention.
After watching this video, I wonder how many young people feel like this...and I hope there are more.
