Well, my progressive allies, we are in for a world of ****

The recent episode of "Real Time with Bill Maher" had in its "new rules" segment, many disturbing comments and trends regarding progressives and their ideas.

Have a look at the last 10 minute segment of the show. It is scary in the fact that on campaign ads, so many boast about being bonafide rightwing conservatives, but progressives and moderate candidates never speak on the same terms about being a "liberal" in their campaign ads. It is as Bill alluded to, are we determined in our convictions? The Rightwingers certainly are. They blow things up and riddle assorted objects with bullets to make the point of their war against progressives and progressivism as featured in their ads.

This is how "their" candidates attract voters? Is there this underlying streak of violence in the Rightwinger that is attracted to this approach from their preferred candidate?  And Yes, I look down upon that.

I have always said that our advocates are pusillanimous in their approach and in their lack of commitment and zeal, will cede precious ground to the other side by its resignation. This starts with the President on down.

I may have to resign myself to a rightwing America society and all the ugly things associated with it, and brace myself for the most coarse and base being placed upon a pedestal over the best in the American tradition.

Regardless of what the Rightwinger may say, we on the left have, generally, the better product as Maher mentions, but lack of commitment and zeal will leave us accepting the tackier one it's place.

Here is the video link, what do you think?

I think that, from the panelist segment on, it was one of his best shows, (I think a lot of his are 'the best').

I found so many 'truths' in it that I thought about transcribing a few, but there were too many, so I will just do the best one: From the Aussie author panelist:

"If people of America could get off this thing of endlessly beating themselves up on their own past and look at the world as it is today they could do something about actual problems."

I did grab another topic from your link, so I'm going to use it too.

Thanks for the link Cred. A great show opening for me many doors bringing some pondering. And, more pondering. Like GA I did discover some tid-bits that reflect on us here in the U.S. One was we use to have different opinions, but now we have different facts. I wonder if it has always been that way. I dun'no . . .

Anyway, overall the show was a good commentary I enjoyed. Thanks for sharing. I will come back and watch it again after I have let it incubate for awhile.

Well, I learned a new word today "pusillanimous" so thanks for that.

I am sure I could find some equally idiotic, moronic, ignorant and just over the top foolish Ads from those running on the Democrat ticket as well.

As I don't watch much TV... and wouldn't sit through an Ad spot unless I was being paid very well for it... I can't attest this is true, but I found one on Youtube to help support this theory:

Ken, there is always a little bit of something in most everything and anything. Here I speak of the breath, magnitude, frequency and the theme of the ads. Shooting and violence as the remedy for their opponents. I am sure that these politicians would not invest at great expense into ads designed to just attract a fringe.  The ads are more than a buffoonish representation but are part and parcel of the Republican' attitude and those of its supporting base.  How much of the Right is gobbling it all down as prime Red meat?
