      The GOP are beyond punishment. It needs to be updated and replaced with a different political party, altogether - maybe even split into a couple of different ones. American didn't always have these two parties no matter how old they are. They can be altogether replaced. I know I wouldn't miss it.

        Even though it has done a pretty good job of decimating itself, my proposal is to abolish the Regressive, Obstructionist, Backward Motion Republican Party all together ~

        They are completely DEVOID of innovative NEW ideas, NO NEW proposals designed to enrich the lives of the Majority of Americans etc ~ Commence a Politically Motivated Special Congressional Committee using TAX PAYER FUNDS to attempt to cripple a Democratic Campaign?           Progressive Liberals become JUST as regressive obstructionists when we decide that OUR ideas are better than anyone else's - even the GOP's. The truth is, when Republicans & Democrats work together to solve things - there IS the potential to come through with a reasonable compromise that does work for most people. They ALMOST/kinda have something like that going with Healthcare Reform when a couple of Republicans joined the reform because so many people were insisting on it. It turned out to be both better and worse in some ways because of the POLITICAL (as opposed to healthcare) compromises. We are never going to change power-hungry people. And make no mistake, Democrats and Independents can be just as underhanded and dishonest when it really comes down to it. Elimination isn't the answer - change is.

            Progressive Democrats fight for Strengthening Veteran's Benefits, Equal Pay for Women, Women's Health Care Choices, Affordable Student Loans, Strengthening Social Security & Medicare, Raising the Minimum Wage, Equal Rights for Gays ~ Conservative Republicans Oppose ALL of these fundamental VALUES ~ Republicans are indeed the party of the WEALTHY & Corporate Interests ~ They have NO innovative ideas because they were not elected to "Brainstorm" and the GOP is perpetually "Stuck in REVERSE" ~

            Unfortunately, there is NO common Ground found on the MAJORITY of issues ~

                Despite the perpetual obstruction from conservative republicans, we've still managed to stay focused and accomplish many great things for Americans in the last 7 years ~

                Progressive Democrats have begun to Raise the Minimum Wage for workers state by state, $15 per hour to start while republican Scott Walker continues to bash labor unions ~ We have won Equal Marriage Rights for Gay Americans despite despicable bigoted responses from republicans ~ We have implemented OBAMACARE which is the first critical step toward a "Single Payer Health Care at Birth" system ~ 17 MILLION more Americans now have Health Insurance because of the ACA ~

                The list of GOOD righteous things Progressive Democrats have accomplished for Americans is impressive, while BACKWARD republicans continue to waste Tax Payer Funds on Politically Motivated Schemes like the Benghazi Committee Sham & Carry on Delusional "PRETEND" wars on Christmas ~

                  Yeah, there is hate everywhere - or at the very least, a whole heck of a lot of resentment. Changes come very slowly, and the GOP is called that for a reason - they have been around for a very long time. It's a big red boat practically being forced to change. That doesn't come easily. And to be angry with people for not being able to instantaneously alter their ingrained belief set is illogical. All we can do, is keep doing what we can to prove that our ideas are 'more correct'; and hope more of them jump on board to give input and possibly make them better. It's called 'being optimistic'. wink

            This is the argument you always hear.  They are as bad as us.  Yesterday those republican congressmen/women boarded on cruel and unusual.  9-11, 300 dead Marines in Lebanon, 3000 of the dead in Iraq -all on Republicans watch and no one was ever put through what we witnessed yesterday.

      Talk about Naïve ,   Do you not have any idea of the importance of  utmost security in the levels of state department  communications , So , For the Naïve ,The state department is where a vast mount of interactions between countries actually go's on !       In any given situation between sometimes vast differences in political  belief's of nations there has to be a point in which a breakdown in communications has occurred  AND all out war is declared ! 

      That is the main job of the state dept.  .To work in private ,in secrecy at most  times to alleviate a situation  to avoid all out war . Most Americans believe it's simply about having an embassy for image ,    Countless wars have been avoided because of the importance of EACH nations state dept , secrecy ,by whatever name they go by ,      Anyone who can't understand that importance in this security is Naïve ,   You cannot have secret  relations  between countries on Facebook !  Of which Hillary seems to consider the idea of her private email flop  !

      It is absolutely  naïve to consider this issue one of partisan politics !

      Don't even get me started on the Benghazi thing. The military has cleared Hillary Clinton of any wrongdoing in one of the many "committees" who participated in this witch hunt. I can't even believe the R's berated Hillary with questions for so many hours. At one point, near the end, one of the woman R's asked Hillary, "Later that night, did you go home and go to bed?" Hillary indicated she did. The woman (can't recall who) then replied, "Were you alone in bed all night?" Hillary seemed incredulous, but smiled and said, "Yes, alone all night!" The woman still didn't get that Hillary was trying to bring some levity to the proceedings after being tortured by idiot Trey Gowdy for hours, and got really nasty when Hillary laughed, saying, "I don't think this is a laughing matter." I thought it was hilarious. They make such fools of themselves, and are too unsophisticated to realize it.

      So far, Cummings, Schiff and Smith are disgraceful. They are saying that the Benghazi Committee is "political", but it is only that because the Democrats are making it so.

    Judicial Watch announced today that it obtained more than 100 pages of previously classified “Secret” documents from the Department of Defense (DOD)and the Department of State revealing that DOD almost immediately reported that the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi was committed by the al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood-linked “Brigades of the Captive Omar Abdul Rahman” (BCOAR), and had been planned at least 10 days in advance. Rahman is known as the Blind Sheikh, and is serving life in prison for his involvement in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and other terrorist acts.  The new documents also provide the first official confirmation that shows the U.S. government was aware of arms shipments from Benghazi to Syria.  The documents also include an August 2012 analysis warning of the rise of ISIS and the predicted failure of the Obama policy of regime change in Syria.

      All the data was collected from Hillary's devices. Once it was, it is illegal to go back after the fact and declare something "classified" when it wasn't classified in the first place. It's just a  witch hunt, which Trey Gowdy himself said. Hillary knew the embassies were in danger, and asked for help. The do nothing Congress would not give her the funds or people she needed to keep the embassies safe.

          Hi Kathleen THX for reminding us of that ~ In addition to the Beirut Tragedy, I'm sure you might remember during the Reagan Administration there was also the Covert & Criminal Activity of "Iran-Contra"  ~ A complicated situation where Reagan and or his agents illegally SOLD Military ARMs to Iran while an Embargo or "BAN" was in place  against the country ~ It was concluded by many that this Exchange & Transfer of Deadly Weapons to Iran by the U.S. Leadership was a direct effort to secure the Release of American Hostages Held in Lebanon ~ Nicaragua was also a key player in the conspiracy and this was all executed in SECRECY without disclosure of the FACTS to the American Public ~

    I watched the hearing when Clinton was there, and I didn't see or hear any of your charges on Trey Gowdy.  He was after the truth and nothing but the truth about Benghazi. Hillary was a small part of the hearing.  Frankly, I believe she was lying through her teeth, and documents prove she was lying on different points.   She is slippy like a greased pig. 

    The Benghazi Committees that were set up before the one Trey headed were bogus investigations designed to protect Hillary.  Listen to his opening statement he goes into it.

    I'm not really interested in what Hillbilly Trey Gowdy has to say, he has ZERO Credibility and he'll get his opportunity in a Court of Law in defense to try to clear his Badly Tarnished Name & Reputation ~ I'm not sure what the penalty will be if he's found Guilty, but a Stiff Fine, Reprimand, Removal from Office & Perhaps even Jail Time might be Appropriate Punishment for WASTING Millions of OUR Tax Dollars on a Politically Motivated SHAM which lasted LONGER than the JFK Hearings, or Pearl Harbor Hearings etc etc etc ~ A SHAM which was Exposed by REPUBLICAN Kevin McCarthy & other individuals who were intimately involved in this "Committee" ~

    Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods served our country with courage and with honor.  They were killed under circumstances most of us could never imagine.  Under cover of darkness, terrorists poured through the front gate of our facility and attacked our people and our property with machine guns, mortars and fire.

    It is important we remember how these four men died. It is equally important we remember how and why they lived. They were more than four images on a television screen.  They were husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, family and friends.  They were Americans who believed in service and sacrifice.  Many people speak wistfully of a better world, but do little about it.  These four men went out and tried to make it better.  And it cost them their lives.

    We know what they gave us.  What do we owe them? Justice for those who killed them.  We owe their families our everlasting respect and gratitude.  We owe them - and each other - the truth.

    The truth about why we were in Libya.

    The truth about what we were doing in Libya. 

    The truth about the escalating violence in Libya before we were attacked and these four men lost their lives.

    The truth about requests for additional security.

    The truth about requests for more personnel.

    The truth about requests for more equipment.

    The truth about where and why our military was positioned as it was on the anniversary of 9-11.

    The truth about what was happening and being discussed in Washington while our people were under attack.

    The truth about what led to the attacks.

    The truth about what our government told the American people after the attacks.

    Why were there so many requests for more security personnel and equipment, and why were those requests denied in Washington?

    Why did the State Department compound in Benghazi not even come close to meeting proper security specifications?

    What policies were we pursuing in Libya that required a physical presence in spite of the escalating violence?

    Who in Washington was aware of the escalating violence in Libya?

    What special precautions, if any, were taken on the anniversary of 9-11?

    What happened in Washington after the first attack and what was the response to that attack?

    What did the military do or not do?

    What did our leaders in Washington do or not do and when?

    Why was the American public given such divergent accounts of what caused these attacks?

    And why is it so hard to get information from the very government these four men were representing and serving and sacrificing for?

    Even after an Accountability Review Board and half a dozen congressional investigations, these and other questions still lingered.  These questions lingered because those previous investigations were not thorough.  These questions lingered because those previous investigations were narrow in scope and either incapable or unwilling to access the facts and evidence necessary to answer all relevant questions.

    So the House of Representatives, including some Democrats, asked this Committee to write the final, definitive accounting of what happened in Benghazi.

    This committee is the first committee to review more than fifty thousand pages of documents because we insisted they be produced.

    This committee is the first committee to demand access to more eyewitnesses, because serious investigations talk to as many eyewitnesses as possible. 

    This committee is the first committee to thoroughly and individually interview scores of other witnesses, many of them for the first time.

    This committee is the first committee to review thousands of pages of documents from top State Department personnel.

    This committee is the first committee to demand access to relevant documents from the CIA, the FBI, the Department of Defense, the State Department, and even the White House.

    This committee is the first committee to demand access to the emails to and from Ambassador Chris Stevens.  How could an investigation possibly be considered credible without reviewing the emails of the person most knowledgeable about Libya?

    This committee is the first committee, the only committee, to uncover the fact that Secretary Clinton exclusively used personal email on her own personal server for official business and kept the public record – including emails about Benghazi and Libya – in her own custody and control for almost two years after she left office.  And it was Secretary Clinton's lawyers who determined what would be returned and what would not be returned.

    You will hear a lot about the Accountability Review Board today.  Secretary Clinton mentioned the ARB more than 70 times in her previous testimony before Congress.  But when you hear about the ARB you should also know State Department leadership handpicked members of the ARB, the ARB never interviewed Secretary Clinton, the ARB never reviewed her emails and Secretary Clinton's top advisor was allowed to review and suggest changes to the ARB report before the public ever saw it. There is no transcript of ARB interviews, so it is impossible to know whether all relevant questions were asked and answered. And because there is no transcript it is impossible to cite ARB interviews with any particularity at all.  That is not independent.  That is not accountability.  That is not a serious investigation.

    You will hear there were previous congressional investigations into Benghazi.  That is true.  It should make you wonder why those previous investigations failed to interview so many witnesses and failed to access so many documents.  If those previous congressional investigations really were serious and thorough, how did they miss Ambassador Stevens' emails?  If those investigations were serious and thorough, how did they miss Secretary Clinton's emails?  If those previous congressional investigations were serious and thorough, why did they fail to interview dozens of key State Department witnesses including agents on the ground, who experienced the terrorist attacks firsthand?

    Just last month, three years after Benghazi, top aides finally returned documents to the State Department. A month ago, this Committee received 1500 new pages of Secretary Clinton's emails related to Libya and Benghazi.  3 years after the attacks.  A little over two weeks ago, this Committee received roughly 1400 pages of Ambassador Stevens' emails.  3 years after the attacks.

    It is impossible to conduct a serious, fact-centric investigation without access to the documents from the former Secretary of State, the Ambassador who knew more about Libya than anyone else, and testimony from witnesses who survived the attacks.

    Madame Secretary, I understand some people - frankly in both parties -have suggested this investigation is about you.  Let me assure you it is not.  And let me assure you why it is not.  This work is about something much more important than any single person.  It is about four U.S. government workers, including our Ambassador, murdered by terrorists on foreign soil.  It is about what happened before, during, and after the attacks that killed these four men.  It is about what this country owes those who risk their lives to serve it.  It is about the fundamental obligation of our government to tell the truth - always - to the American people.  Not a single member of this Committee signed up for an investigation into you or your email system.  We signed up because we wanted to honor the service and sacrifice of 4 people sent to a foreign land to represent us - who were killed - and do everything we can to prevent it from happening to others.

    Our Committee has interviewed half a hundred witnesses, not a single one of them has been named Clinton until today.  You were the Secretary of State for this country when our facility was attacked.  So, of course this Committee is going to talk to you.  You are an important witness, but you are just one important witness, among half a hundred important witnesses.

    I understand you wanted to come sooner than today so let me be clear why that did not happen.  You had an unusual email arrangement with yourself, which meant the State Department could not produce your emails to us.

    You made exclusive use of personal email and a personal server.  When you left the State Department you kept those public records to yourself for almost two years.  You and your attorneys decided what to return and what to delete. Those decisions were your decisions, not ours.  It was only in March of this year we learned of this email arrangement.  Since we learned of your email arrangement we have interviewed dozens of witnesses, only one of whom was about your email arrangement, and that was a very short interview because he invoked his Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination.

    Making sure the public record is complete is what serious investigations do.  So, it was important to gain access to Ambassador Stevens’ emails, the emails of other Sr. leaders and witnesses, and it was important to gain access to your emails.  Your emails are no more or less important than anyone else’s.  It just took longer to get them and garnered more attention in the process.

    I want you to take note during this hearing how many times congressional Democrats call on this administration to make long awaited documents available.  They won't.  Take note of how many witnesses congressional Democrats ask us to schedule for interview.  They won't.  We would be much closer to finishing this investigation and writing a final report if our Democrat colleagues decided to help us pursue the facts.  If the Democrats on this committee had their way, dozens of witnesses never would have been interviewed, tens of thousands of documents never would have been reviewed, your public record would still be private, and we would never have accessed the emails of our Ambassador.  All of that may be smart politics, but it is not the way to run a serious investigation.

    There are certain characteristics that make our country unique in the annals of history.  We are the greatest experiment in self-governance the world has ever known.  And part of that self-governance includes self-scrutiny - even of the highest officials.  Our country is strong enough to handle the truth.  And our fellow citizens expect us to pursue the truth, wherever the facts take us.

    So this committee is going to do what we pledged to do, and what should have been done long ago, which is interview the witnesses, examine the relevant evidence, and access the documents.  We are going to pursue the truth in a manner worthy of the memory of the four men who lost their lives and worthy of the respect of our fellow citizens.

    We are going to write that final, definitive accounting of what happened in Benghazi.  We would like to do it with your help, but we are going to do it nonetheless.  Because understanding what happened in Benghazi goes to the heart of who we are as a country and the promises we make to those we send into harm's way.  They deserve the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.  The people we work for deserve the truth.  The family and friends of those killed representing this country deserve the truth.  There is no statute of limitations on that truth.

    First pint in error in you lengthy post.   No!  The Benghazi Committee is not the longest running investigation in US history.  I know Hillary lied and said it was, can't trust her to tell the truth about anything.  Sad but true!

        Hillary knew the embassies were in danger, and asked for more personnel and money to protect them. It was not given to her. She is one person, and was reaching out for help as much as she could. Yes, it's tragic that anyone died. But she was busy on the phone calling various country's leaders all night. What else did you want her to do? Grab a gun and go shoot people herself? As it was, she was sent to all kinds of unsafe areas during her time as Secretary of State. Sometimes you can only do so much. All these committees are ridiculous, and enough is enough.

    Wow - talk about HATE peddling.  I get the feeling that you are very polarized toward the Democrat side of the political spectrum Alternative Prime, and I don't expect you to answer me without a lot angry "evidence" of how terrible the Republican Party is, but I'm going to make a statement anyway.

    First of all, Progressive policies might seem like a great idea to Democrats, just as Conservative policies seem like good ideas to the Republicans, however in both cases, the policies aren't set up to benefit all Americans, only the demographics that each party finds key to them gaining the votes to stay in power.

    I know that you'll start listing selected ones which you feel benefit all Americans like a higher minimum wage or gay marriage.  Then I'd likely to counter with how it actually slows down employment growth and we'd get into a long discussion on supply and demand and other factors that influence the labor market and finally both walk away unsatisfied.  Then we'd switch to the gay marriage topic where of course we'd again have differing opinions with different evidence to support our respective causes, and the end result would be the same; I'd retain my position and you'd retain yours.

    Maybe I'd say that under Democrat leadership we had banking deregulation (under Clinton) that caused the recession we are still living under today, or how FDR's new deal led us to have a nanny state mentality and how his policies actually stretched the Great Depression out longer than necessary, or perhaps how Woodrow Wilson basically implemented a propaganda agency while in office and jailed dissenters and illegally tried to stop free speech, or how about Jimmy Carter and the high inflation, high gas prices, and horrible economy, and then good old Barry Obama, who added over 6.1 billion dollars to the national debt.  And you'd counter with a battery of counterpoints but in the end, nothing would change.

    If you are a huge supporter of Hillary Clinton and feel her leadership would benefit ALL Americans, then by the freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution, you can support her as strongly as you choose to. I'd personally like to see policies which are more American in nature than one party in nature. 
    I think more people can get behind things that benefit all of us, like reducing government interference in our lives, less regulating, enforcing the law (or if the laws aren't working, repealing them and replacing them with ones that do,) keeping our citizens safe, and working to keep good paying jobs in the country.

    Feel free to say anything you choose in response - I'm not going to respond back either way.  My post has no personal attacks on you or your beliefs system, just making a point that the problem is two sided.
