Check this article out, if you please.

So now, Hannity wants the Trumpers to believe that hope springs eternal, even in a worst case scenario?

The Righties have another thing coming if they think that we are going to allow a criminal and incarcerated individual to run for the office of Chief Executive, chief law enforcement officer.

Hannity has got to be "hard up" for ratings, to sell his brain dead audiences such rubbish.

Well, we have to consider the source, don't we?

I have not chimed in on the latest "trump did this". Just too little information on this latest "hang 'em high" situation.

I can say I don't think Trump could win an election from prison.

The Workers Party (PT) former president in Brazil, Lula, packed the supreme court with his supporters during his term. When his term was over he was arrested for corruption and spent time in prison.

Last year the supreme court released him from prison and expunged his conviction so that he could not legally be kept from running for office in the future. He declared himself a candidate for presidency.

Maybe Hannity and his audience are not so brain dead. Are you so sure it could not happen up there in your neighborhood?

Well, Doc, with the appearance of Trump on the political scene, every norm that was considered a part of American politics have been thrown out of the window. That is a negative trend not a positive one.

There is the danger here of the Supreme Court becoming "politicized", with their ability to impartially interpret the law suspect.

But The Constitution is not explicit about felons or those with a criminal record as not otherwise meeting minimum qualifications established for being eligible to run for the office. I can only hope that people here have enough common sense to insist that the leader of the free world be a person not tainted by crime and illegality. But, with as many votes as Trump received in 2020, who knows?

I am holding on to that guard rail and can only hope that it does not give way as so many seem to have at this point.

Am I wrong in thinking that convicted felons can't hold office?

Felons can run for public office in any local, state, or federal election, as long as there isn’t a specific law barring him from that office. No part of the United States Constitution states a felon is disqualified from running for any elected office.

However, and this is an important distinction, being charged with a crime is not the same as being convicted of a crime.

I realize in today's world, in our MSM and politics, being accused is considered the same as being convicted... we saw this with Kavanaugh during the supreme court hearings.

A person that barely was part of his past was able to accuse him of sexual misconduct, I don't think she accused him of rape, in her opinion it was an attempt, from over 30 years prior, when they were teenagers... with no witnesses, with no clear proof that they were even at the same location at the same time, if I recall correctly.

His accuser by the way, is a Professor, her specialty is teaching how to prepare "victims" to eviscerate their "assailants" in court.  Quite interesting that almost no news agency mentioned that her life has essentially been devoted to the process of ensuring that a verdict is found in favor of "victims" regardless of the facts or truth of the matter.

The "Law" has become a political tool in America, as has MSM "News".

It will be left to the voters... heheheheh ... yeah, sure it will... to decide if a felon can serve as their President or not.

      Ken is correct, technically.

I don't think that the Founding Fathers anticipated a situation where a convicted felon or incarcerated person can be seriously considered a candidate for the highest office in the land.

These are strange times. Do we move the White House to Sing-Sing/ Attica or vice versa? But it will be a challenge for fund raising, long winded speeches and kissing babies and such, a disadvantage that I doubt that even Trump can overcome. And, one that has to affect the ability to credibly gather votes.
