America Hates Socialism/Communism

America traditionally has been against these types of regimes.

But today, due to indoctrination in our schools and universities, young people are are open to the benefits of Socialism/Communism, pointing out that homelessness, drug use and prostitution diminishes. These, however, may be the only advantages among many disadvantages.

One disadvantage is the inability to pursue the rights of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Self-interest must take a back seat in socialism, and working for the benefit of others is expected and encouraged. Self-interest is demonized as selfish and self-serving. The doctrine of the Golden Rule, a universal religious tenet, is the justification for abandoning self-interest.

However, in order for individuals to do unto others as they would have others do unto themselves, they need to know how to do for oneself, know what that means and realize the importance of doing for oneself. One cannot even help others without being in position of helping oneself. For instance, one cannot help the poor, if one does not have enough money.

Are we being tricked into socialism by Ms Harris et al or are we willingly accepting it?

Many privileged young people are being deluded into socialist philosophy because they had it too easy.   Have you noticed that those who espouse socialism come from upper middle to upper class homes?  The young people who come from lower middle to lower class homes don't espouse socialism -they want THAT money.  Such young people are prepared to work to achieve the American dream.   Ms. Harris espouse socialism/communism yet she came from an upper middle class home- what hypocrisy!

"Mark J. Perry of the conservative American Enterprise Institute (AEI) argued that socialism means giving up freedom for more security. Perry also argued that "Socialism is the Big Lie of the twentieth century. While it promised prosperity, equality, and security, it delivered poverty, misery, and tyranny. Equality was achieved only in the sense that everyone was equal in his or her misery.

Critics of socialism cite the Soviet Union and Venezuela as examples of countries where socialism has failed."

Do Americans want a regimented society?
    No.

Could Harris and Walz and the main stream media be leading us there and we don't even know it?
    Or we do know it?

I do think some Americans may indeed be leaning toward socialism, particularly as they search for solutions to economic inequality, healthcare challenges, and other systemic issues. The pandemic, wage gaps, and rising costs of living have led many to seek more government involvement in addressing these concerns. Kamala Harris’s agenda, in some respects, does reflect socialist values. Her focus on expanding free healthcare access,  offering tax incentive money to those who want to buy homes, and environmental justice are policies that align with principles of wealth redistribution and increased government intervention, which are core tenets of socialism.

As for whether Americans want a regimented society, the answer is generally no.  In my view, most Americans cherish individual freedoms and would strongly resist any system that imposes excessive control over their lives, and freedoms.

However, there is certainly a growing concern among some that figures like Harris, along with Tim Walz and the mainstream media, could be guiding the nation toward a more controlled and centralized society.  Whether Americans are fully aware of this potential shift or not depends on individual perspectives, with some recognizing the signs and others perhaps overlooking or even embracing these changes.

I think you are right, but stop far from the truth.  It is not "some" Americans, but a majority, and a good sized one, that makes up this group looking at socialism.  One has only to realize that over half of our people are digging into the pockets of the other half for their support, their sustenance, their health care and most other parts of their lives to see this.

"I do think some Americans may indeed be leaning toward socialism, particularly as they search for solutions to economic inequality, healthcare challenges, and other systemic issues."  Keyword "some".

Dan, you got me—my original comment didn’t dive as deeply as it could have. I mean, I could write a book on this topic! I’m glad you’ve given me a chance to expand on the fascination some Americans have with socialism. However, I believe this fascination has been around since the late 19th century. Does the name 'Meathead' ring a bell? Or how about the flower children? I could go on. But, I have to ask: has socialism ever truly taken hold here? In my opinion, and please take this as just my perspective, it won’t take root this time either. Why? I believe Americans, at their core, value freedom, the ability to thrive, make money, and work toward personal success. Sure, there are always exceptions—there always have been, right? But when push comes to shove, I think the majority recognize the downsides of socialism. Many also see the media and leftists as driving the current push for it, but I truly believe that group is a vocal minority with a big platform. Your average American, in my view, would never fully buy into socialism.

I believe the upcoming election could provide insights into whether people are leaning toward socialism. However, it might take another term under a socialist-leaning president to make that clear. In my opinion, Biden was mild compared to Harris, who, again in my view, is a staunch socialist. Sometimes, it takes a few hard lessons before people fully realize the consequences.

Yeah, "meathead" rings a bell, along with Gloria (you're really dating yourself, gal!).  And the flower children.

But on the whole I disagree with you - I see far, far too many people living off the efforts of others, unwilling to provide for themselves, ranging from simple school lunches to virtually the entire support for their family.  As I mentioned, over half our nation gets government charity in one form or another - can socialism (or, more likely, a form of Marxism) be far behind?

I fear not - I think we have already crossed the line, with half the nation providing and half taking.

Oh God yes.  Many of those who espouse socialist/communist policies come from affluent socioeconomic households. In fact, many people who hold socialist/communist ideologies are either upper middle to upper class.  I know many people who hold this philosophy-they are either upper middle or upper classes.  Those who come from lower classes don't espouse such philosophies.  They are the ones who will work to achieve the American dream.

Many of the youth who espouse such philosophies had it too easy.  They never had a difficult or struggling life.   They bemoan their affluent status- they have affluent guilt.  They feel that they shouldn't be rich while others are poor although the latter are poor due to their particular life choice.

There are many extreme Liberals a/k/a Leftists who do desire 1984.  There are those unaware & hate America & will let Harris/Walz seduce them into socialist ideology.  They contend that America would be "so much better" under a socialist regime.  Many of those who want socialism/communism are spoiled, pampered upper middle to upper youth who never wanted for anything in their lives.  They didn't even have a summer job & had hard knocks.   If they weren't pampered or had hard knocks, they would appreciate the affluent life & knew the perils of being poor & struggling.  Those who grew up poor & struggling DON'T want socialism/communism, they want THE AMERICAN dream of an affluent socioeconomic life.

One has to be proactive to achieve any type of success.  One has to fight for the continuance of the American dream.  One has to be proactive in life.  No one is going to give anything to you.  One has to WORK for what they want.

The truth is, it is better to have a consistent means of work, health and security than to have a million dollars.

A million dollars is easily lost, the ability to work and provide for one's family and loved ones is not.

If the American citizens agree to the Left-generated socialist policies, our money, which we willingly work so hard for, will be taken away from us through high taxation. High taxation is usually the result of government leaders tricking us into thinking they can manage our money to some benefit. And If we we fall for it, we have ourselves to blame.

Lately, however, it happens that the government forces its constituents to agree to whatever benefits they deem necessary through sneaky executive orders and bills we did not vote for, (Think Newsom.) If they force us to agree to detrimental policies, its their fault.

The government needs to follow the rules of limited government which requires checks and balances. The branches of government are supposed to watch each other with beady eyes to make sure they're following the Constitution / Law of the Land. ARE THEY?

If they are NOT using their beady eyes, we must.
