What will JDT do about Israel/Hamas/Iran?
What will JDT do about Ukraine /Russia?
What will Harris do about Israel/Hamas/Iran?
What will Harris do about Ukraine/Russia?
After all,
"Before he/(she) enter on the Execution of his Office, he/(she) shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Article 2 section 1 of Constitution of US
"The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States." Article 2 section 2 of Constitution of US
https://constitutioncenter.org/the-cons … article-ii
If the US puts the actions behind it's idea to fight for freedom and democracy than it is clear that the US should both support Ukraine and Israel to the fullest.
Both Ukraine and Israel are democracies attacked by dictatorships.
If Ukraine falls it will be seen as a sign to all dictatorships to attack it's neighbours. With the big consequence of China attacking Taiwan as it will see a weak US that won't support smaller nations.
The fight against Hamas is a proxy war with Iran. If the US supports freedom of religion, freedom of speech, women's rights, sexual preference rights than it has to support Israel and eliminate Hamas completely. (and IS, basically the regime in Iran)
And if you were running for President this would be your policy.
If I were running for president I would not support Ukraine and the nebulous protection of some sort of democracy. I would support Israel and all that entails: Whatever Netanyahu would like.
As far as Taiwan, Yes, protect it at all costs.
As far a Iran? Step away from Iran as far as possible.
Note to self:
Do not run for President.
wondering if Kamala is thinking this to herself about now!
Ukraine is not a Democracy and hasn't been since at least 2014.
We are after the oil, gas, raw materials and farmland, it is greed pushing this effort pure and simple... we had a working relationship with Russia, they were providing the EU with cheap energy and raw materials, and now they are not and the EU is suffering for it.
Israel is going to drag America into a multi-national war in the Middle East.
To include most certainly Iran.
China has a long history and claim to Taiwan similar to Russia's history with Ukraine in a way.
Our problem stems from the fact that those in charge in DC today believe we have the right to involve ourselves into every nation in the world, but the rest of the world no longer trusts America or wants America determining what happens.
We have waisted our goodwill over the last 30 years with our 'Nation Building' (see Syria, Iraq, Libya, etc.) and our escalating war efforts against other nations (see Iran, Ukraine, etc.) and with today's Internet and instant reporting by individuals on Telegram, YouTube, etc. it is impossible for DC to set the narrative, their lies are constantly being exposed... perhaps not so much here in America, but certainly in most other nations, and all other world leaders see things for what they really are.
A growing portion of the world is turning on America, abandoning the Dollar, and turning to work with other nations to trade with bypassing SWIFT or American involvement in any way.
And we have had 4 years of deplorable leadership that has drastically escalated the move away from America and toward China.
Like I have often said, Biden and his Administration has acted like the perfect Manchurian Candidate, that has done more to help China better position itself in the world than anything China itself has done.
While America pisses off more and more Nations with its involvement in multiple wars while threatening other nations with war (IE China)... China sits back and plays peacemaker, opening its arms to former American allies like the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
What would you do about it (all) if you were President, Ken?
I would reverse course on our escalating the war against Russia... WE the AMERICAN PEOPLE have nothing to gain from this war and a LOT to lose.
I would re-apply sanctions against Iran, I would stop sending them billions, I would not give them billions for hostages they take (like Biden did).
It amazes me that we took our foot off the neck of Iran, and now we are essentially funding both (all) sides of the conflict in the Middle East.
I would get Israel to stand down, rather than cheer Netanyahu and give him a standing ovation in Congress I would pull whatever ace our government has up its sleeve to get him tossed and get the conflict to de-escalate.
It amazes me that we went from Trump having peace brought to the region President Donald J. Trump Brokers a Historic Peace Agreement:
https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/br … ael-sudan/
To the Biden Administration about to have the entire Middle East embroiled in a war that will ultimately involve most of the planet... amazing what 4 years of the worst Presidency in American History can accomplish to undermine America and peace in the world.
If you made America's biggest hater the President they wouldn't have been able to do the harm this Administration has done to our future.
America has become increasingly unhinged in its actions overseas since 9/11. And the rest of the world is getting ready to stand up to America which has become tyrannical (worse really) and I believe if Harris wins we will see the majority of the world turn on America in short order.
I would review/fire the top two tiers of the FBI, CIA, NSA, DOJ, and anywhere else I had authority, with only a handful of select individuals in those top positions being allowed to remain, so that we could keep all those agencies functioning... while at the same time ensuring new policy is enacted while Equity policies and those who support such non-Merit non-competency based hires are removed.
I'd review and reverse most of Biden's EOs and immediately move to secure the border with our military, building a multi-layered wall with funds designated for places like Ukraine.
I would triple the size and budget of ICE and direct them to find and expel (one way or another) every violent migrant that our justice system has arrested and released over the last 4 years onto the American populace.
I probably would not survive to see the second year of my term, as the changes I make would piss off all the power-hungry psychopaths in DC today.
And that is just off the top of my head.
Do you work for the CIA... or some facsimile to it?
Just curious, when I see "Both Ukraine and Israel are democracies attacked by dictatorships." ... that's like selling a narrative, a very oversimplistic narrative that seems intent on escalating the war efforts.
No.
Do you call Russia a democracy? I don't.
Do you call Gaza a democracy? Well technically Hamas was elected in Gaza since 2007, but started murdering members of their rival party Fatah immediately after... And after 2007 there where never elections any more. I call that a dictatorship.
Israel is a democracy with different parties to choose from. Next election 2026.
Ukraine has a lawfully elected president too. (new elections where planed but 80% of Ukrainians do not want to have an election until the war is over.)
So yes, both countries were attacked by neighbouring dictatorships.
And dictatorships feel threatened by neighbouring democracies.
Hamas feels threatened by western freedom (and much more)
Russia feels threatened by the democracy of Ukraine. As the greatest fear of a dictator is ideas of democracy spreading around it's people.
You can fill in the details.
Thank you for posting this thread, It is a current, and very important subject. We have two raging wars that we are supporting. I feel it is a very important issue, and hopefully, we will see a question presented at the debate tonight.
Both Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump have made statements during their campaigns regarding the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas conflicts.
Harris, representing the Biden administration's stance, has emphasized the importance of continued support for Ukraine, framing the conflict as a critical moment for defending democratic values and international norms. She highlights the U.S. commitment to providing military aid and humanitarian support, while seeking diplomatic solutions to bring an end to the war. On Israel-Hamas, Harris has reiterated the Biden administration's unwavering support for Israel’s right to defend itself, while advocating for a two-state solution as the only sustainable pathway to peace in the region.
On the other hand, Trump has criticized the Biden administration’s handling of the Ukraine war, arguing that greater diplomacy could have prevented the escalation of the conflict. He has suggested he would broker a swift deal between Russia and Ukraine to end the war, relying on his previous experience with foreign leaders. Regarding Israel and Hamas, Trump has historically been a strong supporter of Israel and has highlighted his achievements in brokering peace deals in the Middle East, such as the Abraham Accords. He has promised a tougher stance on Hamas and Iran, blaming the current administration for the escalation of violence.
In my view, both politicians acknowledge that Ukraine and Israel are sovereign nations with the right to self-determination and defense. However, their approaches differ significantly, reflecting broader contrasts in their foreign policy visions. It would appear Harris has a status quo solution, of the Biden administration. Support ongoing war as necessary, with funding aid, and diplomacy via NATO.
Trump claims he will quickly broker peace through his direct negotiations with the national leaders involved, prioritizing diplomacy as the key to resolving the conflict. Peace remains his top priority.
And you believe Trump, right? Trump admires dictatorships, the tough guys. Do you speak Russian? If he becomes president again, we may as well start learning it. I visited the Soviet Union for 10 days during Perestroika under Gorbachev, which was one of their mildest periods. We on the tour were well aware of the oppression and were afraid to open our mouths. We breathed a sigh of relief when our plane left Moscow and landed in Helsinki. The whole atmosphere had changed, for the better.
Putin supports Harris.
https://www.usatoday.com/videos/news/po … 093602007/
Putin is trying to use reverse psychology because he wants his puppet back in power in DC. He knows if he openly supports Trump, Trump will lose votes. My son accused my granddaughter of "drinking the commie koolaid" because she was supporting Biden. When I informed him that it was Trump, not Biden, who went around with his nose up Putin's backside, he had nothing to retort.
DJT "has promised a tougher stance on Hamas and Iran, blaming the current administration for the escalation of violence." Sharlee
I wonder what that tougher stance would look like.
"Harris has reiterated the Biden administration's unwavering support for Israel’s right to defend itself, while advocating for a two-state solution as the only sustainable pathway to peace in the region." Sharlee
My view: The two-state solution has been blown. Its over. Palestine allowed Hamas to take over and this is what they got. If a two-state solution is sought and accomplished/reestablished, I have heard that the Palestinians and Hamas would continue to try and take Israel's land. Its what they want: a two state-solution so they can take over and make it a one state.
All theirs.
It seems likely that in the current phase of the Hamas war, Trump would issue severe ultimatums, possibly including heavy sanctions on Iran and even providing military support to Israel. He views Iran as a key player in the conflict, and cutting off its influence could be central to his strategy. Trump has used similar approaches before, and his leadership style focuses on taking decisive, immediate action rather than allowing problems to grow or linger. He’s very much action-oriented, addressing issues head-on rather than letting them drag out through diplomacy alone.
I can’t help but laugh when I see the "two-state solution" still being brought up—haven’t they moved past a 77-year-old idea by now? The Palestinians have never really seriously considered that idea. The Palestinians have shown varying degrees of listening to the proposition of a two-state solution over the years, but it has never been agreed upon or implemented.
The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) considered the concept in principle during the Oslo Accords in the 1990s, recognizing Israel’s right to exist and aiming for a Palestinian state alongside Israel. However, there were many disagreements over borders and the status of Jerusalem.
When Hamas commits acts of genocide against the Jewish people, Israel, in my view, has become resolute in its fight to secure its right to live in peace. By defending itself, Israel is sending a clear message that Palestinians will think twice before initiating any future conflicts.
"possibly including heavy sanctions on Iran"
But during his speech at the New York economic club he...
"Acknowledging that he had imposed some during his presidency, Mr. Trump said he would aim to “use sanctions as little as possible”
Does anyone have any clear policy that Trump has stated on Israel? Seems to be that whenever he's asked, the answer is generally "it'll be taken care of very quickly". You know, like no one has ever seen before...
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/05/us/p … ssion.html
"Acknowledging that he had imposed some during his presidency, Mr. Trump said he would aim to “use sanctions as little as possible”
The statement “use sanctions as little as possible” suggests that Trump would use sanctions sparingly. It indicates to me that he prefers to avoid sanctions unless necessary. This differs from saying he wouldn’t use them at all, but it implies a limited approach.
I have not noted him sharing what he would do in either of the current wars we find ourselves supporting. Note the first sentence of my comment "It seems likely". Which I felt implies or shares my expectations or a degree of confidence in my prediction. I came to my view due to considering his past job performance, and his common practice to use sanctions to try to solve a given problem. I am in no respect judging or hope to judge the outcome of his use of sanctions --- Some worked, some did not, that is something I can say with confidence.
I don’t think anyone could argue that Trump doesn’t use great bravado when talking about how he intends to fix an issue. Trump’s way of speaking could be characterized as bold and assertive language, making overly confident and sweeping statements about his plans and achievements. His rhetoric is one could say straightforward and he uses simple language, in my view, that is easily understood by a broad audience. He frequently hyperbole, emphasizing his strength and success in very dramatic terms. His style is repetitive and emphatic at times. He uses key phrases and ideas reiterated to reinforce his message. Trump’s speaking often includes personal anecdotes and direct engagement with his audience, which to some, makes his presentation more relatable and engaging. To some it is confusing.
I will be honest. I have a bias for Ukraine as I have family and friends there. I have seen the war up close and personal. I know the Ukrainian people and I know what they are fighting for in this war. It's not just a headline or a news sound bite for me. I hear about it and see it from the Ukrainian perspective every day. It is a horrible situation.
IF President Donald Trump wants to gain peace between russia and Ukraine, russia has to agree to go back to the pre 2014 borders and pay war reparations. They are the aggressor and should be made to pay.
Ukraine should be permitted to be part of NATO.
russia has lost over 600,000 of its servicemen. During battles they still use human waves as a tactic. With the right support Ukraine could win this war.
Israel and russian conflicts are different. Israel is taking on a large and well connected terrorist organization with tentacles in many of the surrounding countries. Hamas is an army only is the loosest sense of the word.
Ukraine is fighting the (formerly) fourth largest army in the world having the most modern weapons of war.
IF I were president I would given Israel and Ukraine everything necessary for them to defeat their enemy. I would supply every weapon and all the money needed to accomplish this necessary feat.
A Roman general once said, "Once the attacker engages, the defender must not just win, but vanquish the attacker and give them an unforgettable memory of what happened to them."
I would let the Chinese know that Taiwan is a sovereign nation. Nobody wins if they invade a sovereign nation. The Chinese economy is fragile and would not survive such a war.
I would do everything necessary to make certain Iran gets as little as possible for their oil and put every sanction possible on them.
I would make NATO pay their agreed upon amount for their self defense.
I would return the United States to being an exporter of oil so there is no dependence on foreign oil.
I would build the wall and significantly restrict immigration. We have too many people here from other countries.
That is just for starters.
"Ukraine should be permitted to be part of NATO."
Based on my observations of Trump's actions and decisions, I believe he might have taken the bold step of making Ukraine a NATO member to demonstrate to Russia that any aggression towards a NATO nation would provoke a strong response. I genuinely think that if Trump had won, we might not have seen the war we're witnessing now.
Trump has offered no details about his position on Ukraine, other than to promise to bring the war to an end “before I even arrive at the Oval Office, shortly after we win the presidency.” But he has not explained how he would end the war.
He's threatened to pull America out of NATO several times.
Trump has also expressed skepticism about Ukraine joining NATO on multiple occasions. He has raised concerns about the potential risks associated with Ukraine's membership. He has suggested that expanding NATO to include Ukraine could provoke Russia and create further complications for the alliance. He criticized Biden over supporting Ukraine's inclusion in NATO.
He made these statements during his 2016 campaign and the 2018 Helsinki summit.
has he changed his mind?

Trump has made several statements along these lines, as you've shared, and he brings them up at nearly every rally and interview. It seems clear that he’s positioning this as a campaign promise, although so far, he hasn’t provided a detailed plan other than stating that he’ll personally negotiate the deal. I suppose this will be a matter of waiting to see how things unfold.
Regarding NATO, Trump has reignited controversy during his 2024 campaign by questioning the alliance's value. He has openly expressed skepticism about the U.S. defending certain NATO allies, especially those that he feels are not contributing enough to their own defense. He frequently criticizes NATO members for not meeting the defense spending target of 2% of GDP, calling those that fall short "delinquent" and suggesting they shouldn’t expect U.S. protection. He also mentioned that the U.S. cannot afford to defend nations that run financial surpluses. I tend to agree with his stance on NATO. At this point in history, with the increasing global threats we face, it's crucial to focus on strengthening our own defense.
Regarding Ukraine, I believe that had Trump secured a second term, there’s a possibility he might have pushed for Ukraine’s NATO membership early on to counter Russian aggression and prevent a war.

In a 90 minute 'debate', neither Joe Biden nor Sarah Palin even once used the dreaded P-Word. Both candidates made a point of declaring their unquestioned support for their no.1 ally and friend in the Middle East, Israel. Biden, once only, allowed for the possibility of a "2-state...

It was interesting to note a recent Supreme Court ruling:“On the self-executing issue, the unsigned majority “per curiam” decision is not merely evasion, but error. As we near the election, military actions abroad are escalating at an alarming pace, from North Korean troops being deployed to battle Ukrainian troops along (and within) Russia's borders, to Iran (and China) heightening military efforts in Iran. The U.S. Department of Defense announced this week...
