Trump transition live updates: Lee Zeldin picked to lead EPA by ABC News (Nov 11, 2024)

Lee Zeldin named to be EPA administrator

"President-elect Donald Trump has tapped former New York Rep. Lee Zeldin to lead the Environmental Protection Agency.

"Lee, with a very strong legal background, has been a true fighter for America First policies," Trump said in a statement. "He will ensure fair and swift deregulatory decisions that will be enacted in a way to unleash the power of American businesses, while at the same time maintaining the highest environmental standards, including the cleanest air and water on the planet. He will set new standards on environmental review and maintenance, that will allow the United States to grow in a healthy and well-structured way."

    Thoughts, criticisms, accolades, and/or commentary?

Heck yeah because deregulation, especially when it comes to the EPA, will release the stranglehold of b.s. pork inserted here, there, and way back yonder, and allow the EPA to focus on the main thing!!
Trump hit D.C. running the last go-round, but he isn't waiting  to get there this time and I for one, love it!

Thanks for commenting, AB! It 'looks like' a good pick from where I sit, though I would have to learn more about the big picture. I use to deal with EPA stuff and OSHA when I was a store manager for a tire and auto repair facility. That is about as far as my knowledge goes.

Naming an unqualified, anti-American worker who opposes efforts to safeguard our clean air and water  really does lay bare Trump’s intentions to, once again, sell our health, our communities, our jobs, and our future out to corporate polluters...cool stuff. Bad air for all.

The Trump regime 's EPA is expected to roll back a load of Biden climate regulations for power plants, oil and gas, vehicles and refrigerants. Most of those will have to be replaced with laxer or maybe no  standards at all.

Will they  stand up in court? .

During the first Trump regime Pruitt, then the EPA administrator, tried to undo the Obama administration’s climate and air quality rules. Many of those early rollbacks were overturned in court.   I'm hopeful that the courts will protect our health this go around.
