I have four friends who got fired from their highly-specialized federal jobs just yesterday. How many do you know?

Since I'm retired, I really don't know that many. I am relieved that my son took early retirement from his position as a systems analyst from the IRS (for health reasons). One of my good friends has been working remotely in Arkansas for the Pentagon for years. Fortunately she was home sick on 9/11 because her office was in the section that was hit. I have a  cousin who has been a DEA agent for years, so I don't think he has anything to fear. But one of my best friends, an attorney for whom I was an editor at the state, recently went to work for the Corps of Engineers. She is on a 2-year probation and is quaking in her boots waiting for the ax to fall.

Trump eliminates civil service employee protections and wants to behave as a private sector employer which he is not.

As a former retired civil service employee, I thank my lucky stars that I remain outside of Trump machinations as he hates Civil Service in principle.

I am sorry for your friends and yet the worse is coming.

People are misunderstanding "probationary" as inexperienced or lower skills. No. They are just newly hired many bringing vast experience and expertise needed for their job from the non-governmental workforce.

I'm sorry for my friends too, and for the voters who didn't know (though they were thoroughly warned) what they were voting for in Nov.

Not anyone that I know but I have been reading the stories all over the internet.  Lots of different sentiment and a lot of folks having a hard time finding some empath. From X..

"Today I found out my neighbor who works for USDA lost his job.

I don’t know him well, but I do know he’s worked for USDA for the 12 years I’ve known him.

    What I do know….

I’m incredibly happy for him and his family.

I’m glad he lost his career.

I’m glad he lost his source of income.

I’m glad he got everything he voted for.

I’m just waiting to see how long it takes for the Trump flag he’s been flying for the last 5 years to come down."

    Yikes.

MAGAs should have known what they were voting for.

    They were certainly warned.

Can’t help but be reminded of the words of project 2025 creator Russell Vought, now head of OMB:

“We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected because they are increasingly viewed as villains. We want to put them in trauma.”

    This is a sick bunch.
