Is President Obama truly a moderate or only bound to moderation by opposition?
I believe he is a pragmatist who understands that incremental change is better than no change at all.
His moderation is driven by opposition. He still intends to "fundementally change America". The ends justify the means. America is changing. For the better? Time will tell.
Moderation implied or applied to is greatly appreciated and needs to be recognized.
Really? Apply that logic to as many scenarios as you can possibly imagine. See how that works out.
Apply extremes to solutions and see where that gets you?
Incorrect solutions are still incorrect, no matter their application. Are you suggesting that there is a "once size fits all" solution to every problem.
If I understand the"one size"Philosophy correctly,it means that the usually moderate one size fits all satisfies a higher percentage, leaving the two extremes with their generally self-serving ideaologies in a position of re-definition.
Yes, however that only estimates your possibility of being WRONG. By it's very nature, it's not concrete. So if your only concern is being right most of the time, this is the best course of action. However, if you realize that not all problems are equal then you realize that not any one solution could possibly be evenly applied to all problems.
Moderation can be a matter of perspective.
I think Obama is instinctively moderate and pragmatic. I read one pundit's comment to the effect that growing up as an outsider who sought acceptance by the in groups in schools he attended shaped this aspect of his personality. Who knowsd?
I notice he sacrificed the public option to get HCR passed which covered 32 million Americans .
I noticed he let th tax cuts for the rich pass to extend unemployment benefits for 8 million Americans who would otherwise have become homeless.
Even when I disagree with his decisions, I can usually respect the result.
"I noticed he let th tax cuts for the rich pass to extend unemployment benefits for 8 million Americans who would otherwise have become homeless."
Or actually get a job.
I doubt Obama can even spell moderate. Before the Dems got their asses handed to them in the 2010 election, Obama was ramrodding the socialist agenda full speed ahead. He only began working across the aisle when he was given no choice.
I don't expect the GOP to provide any real answers, but for the moment, they have at least stopped Obama in his tracks. Two more years of his unrestrained policies would have effectively destroyed our Republic.
