Celibacy is practised by many ordinary people who do not become child molesters, Homophiles joined the Church to get access to vulnerable children
Enough with this homosexual = child molester.
There is no evidence that a homosexual is any more likely to molest children than a heterosexual.
I have been celibate for four years and as time goes by, I become more and more attracted to older women. Women who are ten yrs younger than me or more tend to appear very immature from my point of view. Even when I was in high school, I almost exclusively pursued women in their early twenties. And that was a frustrating existence let me tell ya. 21-28 I had a habit of dating 17-18-19 yr olds but once I was over that it wore off for good.
Pedophiles, on the other hand, have a secret predatory nature and hide behind positions of trust like priest, teacher, day care counselor. When I was in high school, there was a man in my neighborhood who was married with four kids, a church leader and a local Republican Party activist who was until relatively recently in prison for raping and severely beating a 12yrold girl and when the cops searched his house, his wife tried to keep them from going into a particular closet which ended up being overflowing with mostly child porn.
So I guess I would say celibacy is not necessarliy the issue here.
"Homophile" has been an outdated term for decades in countries that aren't controlled top-to-bottom by the Catholic Church. Using the term in this context also ignores the fact that pedophile priests are just as likely to molest underage girls.
You are correct that it's opportunity that draws pedophiles to the priesthood, not celibacy that turns them into molesters.
I do, however, blame good ol' Catholic guilt for turning some of these guys into the repressed, damaged sickos they are. The preferential offenders are incorrigible and would be offenders whether they were Catholic, Hindu, UU, or atheist, but the opportunistic type generally have some trauma of their own in their background. A fire-and-brimstone style religious upbringing, whether Catholic, Protestant fundamentalist, or Islamic fundamentalist, is a common theme.
Being paranoid does not mean that people are not talking about you. Folks, there is nothing Homophobic about using the term Homophile, it is the clinical definition of men who sexually molest under-age boys, or women who sexually molest under-age girls, enough with the paranoia, 95% of confirmed child rapes at the hands of 'Religious' were committed by men on boys, hence, Homophile. Hetrophile is when a man sexually molests an under age girl or woman molests under age boy, paedophile is an adult who is sexually attracted to either sex, maybe your reading different academic books than I am. The point is that 95% of Religious child rapists are Homophiles, when one does not use the correct terms one is simply facilitating child abuse as it creates the illusion that there are a single group of raincoat clad deviants hiding in the bushes, when in fact they are right there in your own home or in your neighbours home.
No, no no. It is an alternative for homosexual or gay. Don't just spout hatred, go and check it out.

It was with great distress that I read the news about the child abuse scandal in catholic church. What do you think is the root cause of the problem? what change do you suggest to prevent further crimes?

Sodom wasn't smited for homosexuality (false-idol worship, poor treatment of strangers and the poor, gang rape). Leviticus doesn't matter (old covenant, pork, lobster, tattoos, mixed fibers, period sex, swearing). Paul was talking about vastly different subjects (lust, guilt, boy...

When did celibacy start being a requirement for priests? As Catholic, celibacy for priests has always been a given to me, but I started to wonder: why? I don't remember Jesus saying anything to Peter about being celibate. Was he? When did it all start and who decided it was going to be a...

Christian Parents, would you allow your children to play with children of different religions? If your neighbor were Muslim or Jewish, would you be okay if your children went over and played with their children? Would it make a difference if they were pagan or atheist?

Should priests and nuns have a choice about remaining celibate or does it go against everything the Catholic religion stands for? If you think they should, do you think it would have an impact on the molestations?

Something I must get off my chest, and I hope this is the appropriate forum...I recently read a hub by a gay man, who is uneasy because his homophobe radar isn't working as well as it used to...He does specifically reference fundamentalist Christians as possible/probably homophobes. This is...
