We sri lankans were under the threat of bombs at any time of the day before May 2009. This was normal for 30 years (more than my age). So my life was always under threat of a blast.
So I know Sri Lanka must have peace as soon as possible at any cost.
We defeated LTTE terrorism and achieved peace - freedom from bomb blasting threat.

Why some economically developed countries are against new peaceful condition?
Is that lose of lucrative earnings from war industry or peace industry (NGOs & INGOs who fueled well for the terrorism openly in Sri Lanka)?

Hey. I am too but that doesn't mean much since the government is erroneously corrupted as well. I mean don't get me wrong. My parents are from Chennai and Columbo but that is irrelevant to what I have to say in regards to your post. I'm just saying even though the war is over, the Sri Lankan government also went and blasted a near approximation of tens of thousands civilians in the process, killing them as a deliberate act of countless violations to the human rights system and the U.N. has claimed that they have a significant amount of evidence to support this take against the Sri Lankan government simply due to there incompetence of failing to comply with documents on the 2009 war zone showdown as the U.N. requested in order to support them.

Why some economically developed countries are against new peaceful condition?

Why shouldn't they be? The Sri Lankan goverment has been known to make many derogatory moves to maintain there position with a positive status and even that has been leaked out by one of there own members.

As far as war industry and peace industry goes, a government can only hold power and maintain alliances if they do things in the interests of the people and when you elimnate the people, you're eliminating the many significant votes you can have in the future elections. But, it doesn't matter to a corrupted government when they kill the innocent as well and fix votes during the election campaign anyways. Thats why places like Canada are stating, within the U.N., to order for an international inquiry because they have more than 300,000 Tamils that reside their and also most of them have shown there support and vote for a government, actively, to conduct and maintain a country's welfare and reputation as fairly as they can.

Here is a link to a recent news article update on the government issue between U.N. and Sri Lanka.

I read some of your articles. I too like  Sri Lanka and would like to visit one day.

In order to make money on hubpages, you have to keep making good articles and do some of that extra stuff to drive traffic directly to those articles such as tags and backling in general. Good Luck!

Dear John Brother, I really appreciate your moderate thinking & views. I can agree with certain points that you show on the present govt. Yes it is corrupt as they were since begining of this system.

BUT I strongly disagree with the points that you posed on govt killings tamils. It is totally misunderstanding due to the false propaganda of LTTE terrorists and their sympathizers. I said you are a moderate because you said you love Sri Lanka. Kindly go through anti-terrorist posts too. If you were amazed to see C4 film, search "lies agreed upon" film from Sri Lanka. You'll amze to know that propaganda in UN was also run by LTTE sympathisers. They are prejudiced and biased.
Yes, pathetic situations were always during the war. But never think our soldiers killed any innocent Tamil civilian. NEVER!!! You know how many Ex combatons were rehabilitated? They were our own brothers LTTE by force recruited. One fellow accepted he killed 81 Sinhalese alone. But he was rehabilitated and he lives happily with other relatives. All army people know this fellow. But they are professional!!!

This UN was misguided by LTTE funds very nicely. Govt film "lies agreed upon" gives nice proofs on that. Those are actual because still they are available in Sri Lanka. You watch that with your MODERATE eye.

I will check it out soon and post another comment after this one, magodis. But, lets just say that 'one shouldn't count all there eggs in one basket.' Even in the United States Army and in the Canadian Army, there has been significant war crimes carried out by soldiers alone behind the government's back such as senseless slayings, rape and torture. This type of wrongful doings by military soldiers have a recorded history pattern dating back to the WW1-WW2 era as well as Hitler and the Nazi as an exception.

The reason for the soldiers to act this way? Its definitely not propaganda my fellow hubber. Its varying degree of psychological disorders. One of them PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome). This is a fact I strongly believe that is relevant to many post-war aftermaths for soldiers as well as during war. I also know this as a strong fact because many people have written thesis papers, well documented research essays, and having taken psychology myself for a double major at some point, it has been tested by many psychologists to conduct experiments of whether "Higher Authority Constitutes Obedience." The the result is true, meaning, it does in fact do that as Hitler did as well as the Nuremberg Trials, (check YouTube).  In other words, when a government orders its troops to destroy places, kill people, torture and take over, those troops will do it with no questions asked because if they don't they themselves will face consequences such as disgracing the honor of the country by opposing it when its there own birth-right to guard. There can be other reasons of there own, but nothing that justifies the right to kill another unless its a case of 'you kill me or I kill you' sort of thing (survivor)

Type in the quote, "Higher Authority Constitutes Obedience" on YouTube and you'll find an overflowing amount of clips of actual research in regards to the corruption of governments to its soldiers. This something that was concluded a very long time ago from being propaganda to corruption with the latter being chosen as  something that made a great deal of sense and knowledge of understanding of the human mind and behavior (psychology) rather than pointing a finger at propaganda for everything.

If this was a propaganda, is 9/11 propaganda? Hell no! Its the same thing around the globe with the government corruption and the stupid terrorists.

I agree with you on other things that you say such as the dumb LTTE. They are terrorists. I did a great deal of research on the leader of the terrorist organization and his history in the decades long war in Sri Lanka and found something you'd find intriguing as well as understanding why I support some of the statements you've made in your argument and its that Nova Scotia (UN) offered to step in and argue for this guy and give a small independent state and enter the governing body as a political figure with a small spot to start out with. This was also something that the Sri Lankan government also thought was a great idea. However, what did the LTTE leader think? He declined and went and bombed an entire airport or railway station in either Sri Lanka or upper India. I can't recall, but you'd know which one it was since I stopped caring about this as both sides have made me feel lost about whether I'd ever like to give support or even visit one day.
P.S. We should right an article together if this issue ever decides to be a big deal again on the news as it was in 2009-2010.

LTTE were terrorists, alright. But so is Rajapakshe. Therein lies the problem

That is exactly the point, in short. Unless this form of 'Power' and 'Society' changes, I stand clearly and firmly to the explanation I've given above.

Dear TM, Thank you for your comment. I agree that this govt is also not good. But still we don;t have a good alternative. But never compare LTTE and Rajapakse. This dirty govt is the best for development in Sri Lanka. I know this royal family is playing havoc. But still that is the best. Recently, I decided not to vote any party in this so-called democratic system until a real leftist group appear.

Moreover, we have to accept certain facts; war and peace industry with oil thirsty are linked in this world. For these things, manythings can happen. Oil experts come as peace mediators. UN sheds tears on the death of a Terrorist leader. UN officials hide foods sent to innocent civilians while gives highly nutritious biscuits to terrorists.
Globally, Libyans are suffered for oil thirst of other few countries, UN backs. Palastine is not recognised as a country as one country dislike it while it is common sense most of countries do like it. and many more....

I spent a couple of weeks in Sri Lanka in 2010, I loved the country, people, culture etc. A couple of things struck me about the country and the Govt as a whole.  On leaving Colombo airport one of the first buildings I noticed was an HSBC investment bank. Sri Lanka isn't ravaged by commercialism as so many other countries are ( I only saw one Mcdonalds) But I did notice there were investments arms of major banks in practically every town we visited. The country actually has a wealth of natural resources such as tea, precious gems, other agriculture etc. and of course tourism to help boost the economy. Yet, the people of Sri lanka are so impoverished. Such a small island with so many resources, yet so little wealth or opportunity afforded to her citizens. Visiting the southern part of the Island was a real shock, after the tsunami I know vast amounts of money were donated by countries world wide, yet there had been so little reparation, Where did all this money go?

Magodis, in terms of terrorism and the civil war in Sri Lanka, I have not seen the film you are discussing so I cannot comment. I did see a channel 4 production named Sri lankas killing fields. I've posted a link below.

Dear Hollie, Thank you very much for your valuable thoughts. I see you are also moderate. I accept our govt are so dirty and useless in terms of what could be done. This is really pathetic. Im aware more resources than what you mentioned.
Kindly search "lies agreed upon" in google
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5O1JAfRXew you will see certain facts. This is one of good things that govt sponsored to do (still a private tv channel did this not this ineffective gvt)

Meanwhile, you should know certain facts that our country faces as challenges. Dirty politicians run by dirty outside powers - we call them "economic hit men" they do not let the people to develop. they want to maintain poverty. money was misused heavily. But you know, Sri Lanka is the best performers from the money for tsunami. So Indonesia etc were lower than that too. Many donors showed they sent money. but some sent some goods with adulated values, I did not know why. Some drugs I saw in my helping works then were expired at the time we received.
Actual donors were individuals through individual contacts which were also misused.
SL is really a paradise with a lot of resources. No money to handle them. America knew we have oil resources in 1965. From then they wanted get them. They had a company to this. amazing!
