Obama, the liar in chief has been blaming the "do nothing" congress for his failed economy. Turns out the democrat controlled senate is the part of congress doing nothing, including refusing to consider Obama's jobs bill! The republican house meanwhile has been working their tails off passing all kinds of legislation designed to promote growth! Time to put the blame where it belongs on Obama, who can't even get his own party to act!!
Its just more campaign drivel being thrown out by a master manipulator. He acts as if nothing he proposed has been tried, stimulus was tried and failed. His answer is it wasn't enough, so if that's the case why should we listen now? The economy isn't an 8th grade school project.
Why do you hate progressive thinking people so much? I agree with SOME of their philosophy, yet at the same time I agree with SOME conservative philosophy's. It does no one any good to hate, blame, and condemn. Our governments biggest problem right now is the fact that they REFUSE to agree on any middle ground. the end result will be, (f&$# it, the whole thing can go to s%$@!) Then we will have anarchy. YEEAAHHH!!!!!
Because they're liars and hypocrites! Obama first blamed Bush for all the country's problems. Now after he's destroyed the economy with his failed policies, and he's facing certain defeat in the elections he wants to propose more of the same while blaming the republicans for doing nothing when its his own party holding up legislation and not doing their job even violating the constitution by not submitting a budget in over 2 years!
So you don't think any of our current economic position can be traced back to the Bush administrations tax cuts and lack of regulation?
Nope. If there is one thing this country has no shortage of it's regulation. There is over 130,000 pages of refs in the federal register and like 80,000 pages of rules and regulations generated daily! The financial melt down was not due to a lack.of regulation but arose because of regulation and Bush's only crime was the bailout though Obama continued to carry that out. Now Obama's policies are extending and deepening the recession and rather than fix it, he's playing politics!
The whole financial collapse was due to financiers paying for false security ratings in the housing market so banks could package and sell insurance on risky investments. That could not have occurred if regulation with real legal consequences were in place. Lack of regulation allowed them to build the bubble until it popped.
I knew you would know, I was really wanting an answer from somebody on the left.
AIG was the main insurer of cds the derivative instruments used to spread the risk of sub prime mortgages backed by Fannie and Freddie Mac who through the Community Reinvestment Act was compelled to put people into homes even if they couldn't afford it. AIG failed to properly price those insurance policies mainly because the mortgages were backed by the government. Yes the ratings agencies also failed but probably because again the mortgages were government backed and maybe they were pushed by breaucrats to do so.
Tax cuts? Why would the problem be with taking in less? Its the more spending than you have that was the problem. If you want to blame wars that's fine, Obama hasn't done anything to solve that problem. Why would you blame Bush for what Obama does?
I don't blame Bush for what Obama does. But I don' blame Obama for what Bush did either. It was a combination of decreased revenue, while increasing spending. And Bush did that in astronomical proportions.
I blame Obama for continuing what Bush did while blaming Bush for doing it. Do you see my point?
Do you acknowledge that a lot of the revenue spent by Obama was needed to avoid complete financial collapse?
No, I do not acknowledge that. I acknowledge that Obama's and his advisers are clueless. The same can be said for Bush and his bailout.
Obama's debt in 2 years equaled Bush's debt in 8! So if you thought Bush was a problem Obama is 4 time worse!!
This is 2011 and our debt sits at 14+ trillion dollars. your chart is an estimate and is currently inaccurate. Our debt was less than 5 trillion in Jan. 2000, and raised to just over 10 trillion by 2008. Bush is responsible for 6, while Obama added 4 more cleaning up Bush's mess. If you want to provide people with information at least do so responsibly.
Can I help it if you don't know his to read or interpret a chart? Bush started his first term with 4 trillion in debt, by 2009 (that's nine years later in case your math us weak as well) debt had reached 8.5 trillion. So over that time Bust added let's say 5 trillion. The chart is an estimate from FY 2011 on and as you know the debt ceiling was just raised to 16.5 trillion because we passed the 14 trillion debt ceiling previously. So let's just say Obama took the 9 trillion in debt in 2009 and made it 14 trillion in 2011, that's 5 trillion in 2 years. If you don't believe me maybe you can get your mama to help you with the math.
In other words, under Bush the debt increased by well over 100% whilst under Obama it increased by a little over 50%.
Hmm, and you reckon Obama has got it wrong! Why not give it a chance, you never know the graph designers may have got it wrong and instead of a continuous increase you'll see a fall.
That chart is from the (supposedly) non partisian CBO and the estimates were based on the last budget Obama presented back in 2009. As you can see, we are already surpassing estimates and Obamacare hasn't even kicked in yet! There's no way it will go down unless and until spending is actually cut (not just the rate of spending) and entitlements are addressed. Neither will happen as long as democrats are in control.
Again! That chart is an ESTIMATE chart. All you have to do is Google 'The national debt by year', look at ANY of the charts and you will see I have no problem with math. You, on the other hand, have a problem with FACTS!!! I thought we might have a real discussion on some of these issues, however I see that you are on an unreasonable crusade to unseat a President that you irrationally targeted as a liberal. And from your posts, that MUST mean he is the ANTI-CHRIST! Thanks for your time, but I have better things to do with mine. Good luck in your delusions.
It does no one any good to blame or threaten? It boosted a political hack to the presidency so he continues the same.
Déjà vu. The House Republicans again drove us toward a government shutdown, this time holding hostage the victims of floods, wildfires, and hurricanes.
Their ransom demand? The gutting of job-creation programs.
After the Senate Democrats declared this DOA, the House GOP split town, and left us to clean up the mess.
I’ve had enough. These Republicans clearly have one interest in their governing. Destroy everything in their path, then blame President Obama and the Democrats for the economic wreckage.
In 48 hours, the DSCC will hit a deadline that will determine whether this Boehner-Cantor ideology takes over the Senate and institutes a full reign over Congress. With only a four-seat majority, we can stop the extreme House GOP in the Senate. But we must prevent them from tipping this balance of power.

Hideous. Worried about spending. I'm worried about welfare for the middle class, personally getting a 6k tax refund. I didn't get 8k for the downpayment on my house, just to lose it. Wasn't there some wee stimulus attached to taxes a few years ago everyone got 800 or 1600 dollars. I don't want to be the first person to return my tax refund, I feel compelled to do so, but I know I won't. Who are the obstructionists? We are. Not just democrats, all of us. Parasitic on the postal service, not paying the full cost of delivering a letter. Parasitic on the public school system. Parasitic on the public univeristy system. UC students pay more than half the cost for the first time ever this year. (I might be incorrect about this.) Parasitic with our emergency services. It's not just teachers and public employees in the parasite class. Sort of lost off on a tangent about parasitic thingy there. But if you're one of those people who actually has to pay a large amount of taxes, thanks for everything. Anyhow, don't just dine and ditch, pay your check and leave a tip. Even though you have every right to rant and rave and blame Obama, I wish you'd leave it up to the people who actually pay for this. On that note, I'm basically telling myself to shut up, so don't listen to anything I say. And yes, you are all terribly well informed and know everything. I know you already stopped listening to me, because you are totally obediant to media commands, but to boil all my hopes down to one sort of policy change is for us to pay for oursleves. Was it forty cents on every dollar our government spends is compliments of China? Seriously, forget that. Let's pay for ourseleves. Back to the topic, we are the obstructionists, we let these people in. It's not one side or the other. It's 90% of them don't have the stuff to balance a check book and don't have the ability to cooperate for the better good.

Isn't anyone else out there sick to death of people blaming Obama for the mess we are in? Recently, during Obama's State of the Union speech, which thank God, did not fall prey to Wilson high melodrama, McCain turned to another GOP and said, "Blame it on Bush." My question to...

Would the same outrage still exist? Or did Obama's presidency ignite the flame?I tend to think that Obama being elected certainly was fuel on the fire -- that is to say, the Tea Party would not be as big or popular if John McCain was president. Much more people would be too complacent simply...

Emails have been spread around claiming that a Federal Court in California will be meeting tomorrow (1/26/2010) to determine if President Obama is qualified as a natural born American citizen to hold Executive office..This case was, of course, dismissed on October 29th of last year. This has not...

Obama's wars for oil, is this just the latest?Libya, Yemen and now Iraq/Syria - is this just the latest war for oil that Obama is waging? Libyan oil supplies Italy and France, the war there was to protect that flow. Obama destroyed Qaddafi just to replace him with something worse. Is Syria next and...

One of the arguments on the Republican side is that (their argument, not mine) Obama needs to stop blaming his problems on Bush and take responsibility. To me, it is a spurious argument. It is still relevant, in any situation, the left over burden you bear and must contend with; and this one, in...
