Feeling lonely after a break-up

Updated on April 18, 2012

We all have times we feel lonely or crave physical contact and intimacy. Do not let that be a reason to get nostalgic, or worse; contact your ex! When you find yourself thinking about him or feeling sorry for yourself because you feel lonely, change your state by thinking of something else. After all, loneliness is merely a state of mind and as the saying goes… This too shall pass!

It will soon be tomorrow and you will have things to do and people to see and you will eventually find love again… or rather it will find you. In the meantime, build your life and make things happen. Have a life to be proud of, then when you do find someone else to share it with, it will be more rewarding and wonderful than it ever was before.

Here are some things you can do when you feel overwhelmed by loneliness…

  • Watch a movie
  • Say your affirmations
  • Exercise
  • Plan a party
  • Call a friend
  • Vizualize your goals
  • Think about something you're looking forward to
  • Plan something to look forward to
  • Play some uplifting music and dance
  • Visit a friend or family member
  • Read a book
  • Clean the house
  • Sing
  • Cuddle your pet dog or cat
