You can't control the actions of others!
Once you realize it's (your expectations of others) that cause you heartache and disappointment in life it becomes a matter of (you) deciding to no longer hurt yourself!
Adopt the philosophy of being "pleasantly surprised" when things go well. Focus your energy & time on those things (you) can control.
There are only two reasons why someone will not give you what you want or expect them to.
1. They don't have it to give. (In other words it's not who they are.)
2. They don't believe (you) are worth the effort to give it to.
Ultimately if you're not getting what you want it's because you're talking to the (wrong person)! In other instances we expect people to behave in accordance to how (we) would behave!
Last but not least sometimes we expect people to "change" and we become frustrated, angry, or hurt when they don't. That's on us!
It's unrealistic to expect a cat to bark!
Generally speaking people only change when (they) are unhappy.
Each of us gets to choose our own friends, lovers, and spouse.
There are only two ways to experience joy and peace of mind in relationships: We either get what we want or we learn to be happy with what have. Accept them as (is) or move on.
The choice is up to us!
