   Do you think that Gender Reassignment "Surgery"  should be performed by experienced Geneticists?
   
   Do you agree that Gene Therapy must be the only form of therapy?
   Do you also agree that extensive research should be initiated immediately?
   Do you further agree that funding is almost non-existent for Gender change by Gene Therapy?
   Do you finally agree that it is time to voice your opinion?

   Really when it comes down to it, America has become way too tolerant of such bizarre things. The fact they even can call it gender changing surgery is a joke. They lack the reproductive systems of the gender they "desire" to be, so they really are just transexuals. If there was never a surgery that would make a man appear to be woman, then no one would dersire the change. It was perpetuated by doctors and surgeons who wanted to make more money. I want it to be clear I am not descriminating against gays, every person, whether they are gay or straight display traits of the oppisite sex every now and then, but it is those who are easily fooled or over imaginary that took the thought too far and it was the surgeons/doctors that played on it to make more money.

   Hi bakerthelo!
   I wonder if you espouse the philosophy of Denise Russell:... under whom I studied in 1997 at UNISYD... those glorious days of campus life. It is surreal, not only because you're smoking dope, but because it is a fairyland existence. We are once again kids, free and taken care of by mum, dad, the state or goodwill!
   If in a sense you argue that physchiatrists alocate at will a label for a "condition" not (YET) existing in the DSM1V.
   
   Denise Russell shows no reluctance to come to strong conclusions in her book Woman, Madness & Medicine. In the introduction she writes that "biological psychiatry has, on balance, produced more harm than good," (p. 1) and it is "a degenerating research programme and that it is time to look in completely new directions if we want to understand mental distress" (p. 2). Later, she says "there are no solid findings from genetics, neurophysiology, or computer studies which show that biological psychiatry is on the right track" (p. 95). So this Russell's work is firmly in the tradition of antipsychiatry. It is also strongly feminist. She argues that as far as psychiatry is concerned, the normal human being is male, so women are by nature abnormal. Of course, that's what she thinks is wrong with psychiatry.

   I think, it would be proper, if instead of saying, Reassignment, you said, "Gender Rehabilitation Surgery"...
