I don't believe marriage and commitment are out of date. When you love somebody and choose to make that commitment of spending your life with them then why not make it a party and have a ceremony?
There's no rules stating you have to have the horse and carriage, or the church and priest these days, you can even write your own vows to one another.
So in conclusion NO marriage is certainly not out of date.
