How would handle a situation when your boyfriend doesnt buy you a birthday gift but says he...
loves you and will when he gets money?
I think it is less about physical things and more about thoughts. Did he do something special like a massage or act particularly loving? Did he just say he'll buy you something nice to get you to shut up or forget about it? There are signs one way or the other.
If you happiness rest on things then you may have a problem. Remember the old saying love people use things. May be this will help you objectively view the situation.
A gift can be as simple as a rose . . . does he act as though he loves and appreciates you?
It depends... Does he have enough money to go out with his friends but not enough money to buy you a birthday gift? In other words, do you believe him that he didn't have the money to buy you a gift?
Did he do anything special for you that does not involve spending money such as making you a card or writing you a love letter, etc.?
If he really didn't have the money to buy you anything don't let it bother you. But, if he didn't do anything to make you feel special on your birthday I think you may consider finding a more caring boyfriend.
