This may be hard for the guy if he's close to his best friend whom is a girl and loves his girlfriend too. The ones whom love him must respect each other then, even if they hate each others guts is my best take on this. But if a guy is to choose, choose the one who respects him and is willing to give him up for his happiness.
Get rid of the person that is making you choose between one or the other.
