Yes, it is extremely easy. You are only one person is a sea of humans. They each have feelings, emotions, thoughts, beliefs. If you don't care about their lives, who would care about your life? It's kind of saddening. Just create a purpose and the feeling of loneliness in a crowd goes away because you have bigger things to worry about.
I'm not a very outgoing person and find it difficult to start conversations, even with people I know well. As a result, I'm happiest when I'm with one or two people, rather than many. Being in a crowd can be a very lonely place for me.
