When dealing with a spouse who has mental issues, and is addicted to prescription medication, how far should one go when they are'nt even willing to help themselves? I really want to know.

You should go as far as you are willing to. There is a clear line between helping someone you love and sacrificing your own happiness and well being.

If you are feeling a negative impact on your life, it's time to take action.

If you are already questioning, then you need to seek professional help.  There is a fine line between helping and enabling.  Seek professional advice, determine your own motives and follow the advice you are given, sometimes "tough love" is the appropriate response and sometimes just time is the answer.
