It's like comparing a person being in a coma with one who is jogging along the beach.
Technically both people are "alive" but most people would say the jogger is "truly living". People that are busy pursuing their dreams while living a healthy balanced life admired. On the other hand those who are sleep walking through life or sitting on the sofa playing video games all day with no ambitions whatsoever are wasting time.
"A life without dreams isn't living, only existing."
The world may not owe you anything but you owe yourself the world.
Existing and living are two different things.

Being alive is merely taking up space and doing what's necessary to survive however long we live. Truly living is to go out and do more - experience as much of what the world has to offer.
