What is the only thing that we all as humans fear the most?
whether young or old, no matter your nationality, we all fear losing an OPPORTUNITY, that moment, those moments of doing all that satisfies the soul.
I choose a life of no regret and my child shall learn from me, it's a cliche but FACT is we only DO LIVE ONCE! make the most of all the moments in your life!!
At one time or another, I think most of us fear being alone.
Most people at some point fear never having experienced a deep lasting loving relationship with someone they can count on through ups and downs.
Death and the unknown on the other side of death still scares a lot of folks as well. We learn early on in life that we are going to die and yet most of us do not sense any urgency to live our lives with passion.
We act as though we have a thousand years to live. It's not until we get a shocking medical report or a sibling, best friend, or co-worker, that is in our age group that temporarily causes us to reflect on our own mortality.
Even then we want to find out (what they did) that played a part in their deaths so we can "rule it out" for ourselves. "He was obese", "She smoked two packs of cigarettes per day." or "He was a heavy drinker". There is always "something" we can point to.
The reality is if you ran 10 miles per day and lived on water and veggies you aren't going to escape dying.
First of all I'd like to know how you know we only live once, i mean do you know it for a fact?lol....Seriously though a saying i live by is: It's good & expected to look back in life & regret things you've done, but what you don't ever want to do is look back & regret something you didn't do or try....I say we do only live once but that will be eternal(if we make it to full awareness of our self), but we haven't actually been born yet & are still growing into who ever we choose with our 100% free will to be. :-)
Old age and death oftentimes cause dread in the human psyche, psychology, and consciousness. Many people view old age as the beginning of decline. Death is another fear- as it signals THE VERY END... read more
I think at one point in our lives we all fear the unknown. Such as death. All one can do is be ready for when that time comes.
Opportunities can be created to some extent. I think a bigger feat is losing yourself to something like mental illness, senility, coma, paralysis, or just being dead. There was at least one horror movie made about being in a full body cast, unable to communicate and let people know that you are alive and not brain dead. The real fear is the loss of control of yourself, being unable to communicate, unable to do anything for yourself, and losing your mind.
