How to make a shy man like you? What should you do?

What are some of the things to do to make a shy guy like you? Should you ask him out first? It doesn't matter...men and women can answer!

If being yourself isn't enough to "make" someone like you then he's not "the one" for you! It's also important to ask yourself: Why you want to be with someone who does not indicate any interest in you?
"Never love anyone who treats you like you're ordinary."
    - Oscar Wilde
On the other hand if you are interested in someone it's okay to start a conversation and ask them questions about them self. This will afford them {the opportunity} to open up to you (if) that is what {they} want.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter who started the conversation the important thing is that it happened. It's always a good idea to get to know someone (before) considering asking them out.
Conversations and subtle flirting are often the way of "testing the water" to see if there is a mutual interest, chemistry, or attraction (before) proposing a date. A similar sense of humor also helps.
Are "shy guys" (your type) in general or is he the 'exception"?
Hopefully you're not expecting him to become someone he's not.
You may discover he's boring and you don't enjoy being around him.
It's "too much work" to have a conversation with him.
He may already have a mate.
For all you know he may be gay!
Talking a little bit everyday can shed a lot of light!
Remember anyone who asks for date {should be prepared} to pay.

Spend time with him in ways that give you the opportunity to open up as the situation allows, like going for a long walk or seeing a movie and having a picnic afterward. Ask him what books he likes, read them and ask him to discuss them with you.
Don't go to crowded events where he may feel overwhelmed. Don't pressure him into sharing. Develop the relationship with one on one engagement or small familiar groups doing things together, such as group board games.
