Why are so many women are Christians when the bible endorse abuse towards women?
(1) Despite the west believe west treat women better then none west, stat show rate of domestic abuse in west is much higher, western girls that grew up in Asia, even refuse to date western men. (2) few bible passages example, Proverbs 19:14 "House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord." thus in bible, wife is husband's property a gift from Christ Peter 3:5 "For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own, husbands," thus according to bible, the wife must submit even if husband bash her up.
I love how you always seem to quote things with one thing in mind, to prove a one-sided point. "A prudent wife is from the Lord" -- that's a blessing! Men who abuse women are cowards, and the bible doesn't teach that women who are abused should stay with the abuser.
Across the board, women are abused by men at a fairly regular rate, with Islamic nations being the exception at a disproportionately higher rate of abuse. It doesn't seem to matter what faith you are, or lacking a faith, the percentages are roughly the same.
Actually, the bible say u can't get divorce, so u kinda have to stay with a husband that use u as a punching bag, according to it.
Actually, the bible does say you shouldn't get a divorce, but it doesn't say you have to stay in the same house or even the same state. Does it? No, it doesn't. Once again, you're wrong.
Ephesians 5:22-33 [Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything] Not living with abusive husband ain't a choice, unless husband approve, in Christianity
Again, where does it say you have to stay with an abusive husband? It doesn't.
"So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself." - Ephesians ch5 v28
Any man who abuses his wife, is NOT a Christian.
"When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets (penis): then thou shalt cut off her hand,
So? You really want someone to jump in on a fight, by taking hold of your frank and beans? You want it to be a fair fight?
Lots of OT laws were harsh, because the world of that time was harsh. Deal with it.
so they say "ought men to love their wives as their own bodies.", yet told them to chop off her hand, when she accidentally touched another man's penis while helping u in a fight? Love sure is cheap in the bible.
Why are you using the OT to disprove the NT? Shows how much you don't understand about the bible.
Seen all those Christian fanatics that goes on angry protest with signs that says "God hate fags"? they use old testimate also. Say what u want, old testimate is a still bad influence till date
Not my fault they don't understand the bible either.
No, they understand it perfectly, but unlike oter people Christian fanatics don't only pick positive aspect of Christianity to follow, but follow its evil teaching also, why do u think Russia execute gay people now? because they successful lobby gov
Peter you can't justify "gay" w/WORD (Rm1:25-32)!
You can't say who "GOD joined together" vs self either (Mk10:9;Matt19:6).
A biblical Marriage should be "only in the LORD" (ICor7:39)!
peter565, it seems you're just looking for any excuse to bash God and the bible. Your arguments aren't even logical, they're just reactionary and inflammatory. Nothing you said fits with what the bible teaches.
This article tells you "the bible DOES NOT endorse abuse towards women."
If an unbelieving spouse is abusive & departs; the believing spouse is "no longer under bondage (I Cor 7:15); called to peace!" Divorce is acceptable!
Ezra Chapter 10 in O
I'm not clicking that with a 10 foot pole. Between them and the SPLC, I don't know who spews more anti-Christian propaganda.
1. Most modern Christian sects have abandoned beat your wife, segregate her if she's having her period, she's worth half of a man. The problem for women's rights is Islam in today's world, from forced marriages to honor killings (90% of all are committed by Muslims) to veil or we beat you up to Muslim rape gangs preying on Western women and liberal secular governments say shut up about it or you're the evil one.
2. Christianity as practiced today actually supports women socially in ways secular society doesn't, from valuing being a stay at home mother to recreating the "tribe" that is the basic social unit beyond the family. Contrast this to liberal secular demands that a woman be an always-on parent, work 40-60 hours a week, volunteer, have time for her friends and if she can't have it all, it is men's fault, not society's demands that she do more than most people actually can do.
Actually according to US justice department more Christian men abuse wife, then Muslim men, because Christian don't allow divorce, Muslim allows it. (but both got high domestic abuse rate) & some Christian still follow WTF bible teaching on wome
Reported vs actual? How would you know if the Muslim women aren't reporting it?
The numbers are irrelevant since there are a hundred times more Christian men than Muslim men in the US - the rate by Muslims is much higher.
When it comes to the bible most Christians tend to "cherry pick" the verses of scripture they will obey and ignore those they choose not.
Then again the bible acknowledges this in Ecclesiastes 7:20
"For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not."
In the U.S. the average person loses their virginity at age 17 and the average first time bride is 27 while the average first time groom is 29.
To my knowledge few if any religions condone pre-marital sex!
Another statistic is 66% or 2/3rds of all divorces in the U.S. are (initiated by women). Clearly if women were blindly submitting to their husbands based upon biblical teachings they would not have any "deal breakers"!
Marriage is just (one) aspect the bible touches upon in offering believers a guide for living life on earth with the goal of earning a trip to heaven.
The thing about the bible as it is with other things is one can always find a scripture or verse to "justify" whatever it is (they) want to do!
Study show, society and ethnic group that got the highest rate of abuse to women, also got the highest rate of Christian. In US, ethnic with highest rate of domestic abuse is 1. Latino 2. African American 3 white and highest devoted Christian same
Oftentimes writers of such articles are simply looking for some "common denominator" to defend (their) narrative.
I highly doubt any abuser is thinking about (his religion) when he abuses women! Ethiopia and Sri Lanka have higher rates.

Why do many women find it a threat to be a submissive wife?Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Colossians 3:18-19

Statistics show, as of 2013 anyway, that:1. Reported abortion rates in the US is the same in 2014 as it was in 1973, pre-Roe v Wade. "Reported" is key because a very high number of abortions prior to 1973 were illegal and went unreported. After Roe v Wade, the reported...

If the Devil knows what the Bible says is going to happen, i.e., he knows all the bible scriptures backwards and forwards by now, why is it that he would make it his job to influence people to make these things come to pass? If anything, he would 1) want people to think that he doesn't exist...

As a Christian married man is it a sin to lust in my heart for my wife?On occasion I um pleasure myself thinking about her. I was wondering though. Am I committing a sin for lusting after her? It doesn't feel like it's wrong but I was wondering what my brothers and sisters in Christ might say.
