If you haven't been on here long, then you will not relate to this. There was a group of us who would stay up really late chatting on the forums, flirting, acting crazy and having a grand ole time! I haven't posted in years!
Hell, I've been here since 2009 and even went to a Hubpages "meet up" in Dallas. Got to meet lots of Hubbers and the founders/owners! It was so much fun. We all ate dinner together and went out afterwards. What a memory!
Can't believe it's been so long. I would love to hear from anyone who was on from the beginning If you can, tag them and let em' know about this post. Let's see who all is still here.
I'd like to hear about the changes in your lives. So let's go!
Unfortunately, HubPages forums have turned into a group of ten people fighting continually amongst themselves in the politics forum. Boring.
I probably miss the Q &A section more than anything.
There was an array of topics. Unfortunately sometimes people resorted to "voting down" answers/comments they did not agree with or engaged in name calling and insults especially those involving politics and religion.
Another factor that changed things was the effort to improve quality of articles. Although this was needed it sometimes was overly enforced. Clearly not everyone who was posting articles was attempting to become a serious writer or author. Some people just enjoyed having a community to vent or share their opinions as well as offer advice and encouragement.
Ultimately however HP is a business which earns money from advertisers based upon number of visitors and clicks. In order to establish a respected reputation in the industry it became necessary to improve quality and insisting upon a certain format and criteria was instituted.
More rules usually leads to having less fun.
Those of who weren't serious about becoming professional bloggers gradually drifted away especially if their articles kept having quality issues. They joined HP for fun and the social community aspect.
I learned so much from the early day forums, and made some good friends and a few amicable enemies along the way, then my life changed and Hubpages changed and Google changed and frankly I ran out of rants to make as life became more complicated.
But very pleased I was in at the early days, thanks for reminding us!
I tend to stay on the other side of the forum fence nowadays to avoid being sucked into the political cesspools...
Remember The Captain and his alter ego Cabin Girl? there were both men and ladies fighting over them. It was hilarious, as well as, somewhat sad.
I think the political forums are still the same. Do you remember the outcry that finally forced HP to separate the forums into Hubpages and Topical forums?
I have also been here since 2009, and I don't think the politics and social issues forum has changed at all. Left vs. Right, bomb-throwers vs. apologists, idiots vs. serious folks, it's still the same.
GA
Yep, the old forum days are dead and gone. I blame the evolution of the internet more than anything else.
I wonder if we can still access those old forum threads? It'd be great to go back and read them again, especially the Captain and Cabin Girl comments.
I remember those days. Stan Fletcher and Chris Lincoln were two of my faves. We wrote some funny shit. It was more for the fun of it than anything. Miss those days for sure!
I remember some of that. The forums were a lot of fun back then!

Don't you all miss the good old days when someone on forums was always threatening to leave Hubpages? And then hilariously making some kind of error in their post like calling Hubpages "Hunpages" and then someone would jump on it and make fun of it. Don't you guys miss the days of people...

Hi,I have been on Hubpages for ten years now and I thought I'd like to write about my experience, like I did five years ago (https://toughnickel.com/self-employment … ifferently). So much has changed in the past few years and I'd like to hear your thoughts about how this platform has evolved...

It looks like a fourth of my feed lately is comprised of new people wanting the rest of us to tell them how to write. All day I get request after request for help on passing the Quality Assessment. I mean Really? Many of your requests are just one step above being a jumble of mis-spelled words...

Okay this is great! I downloaded it this morning, and it's really working wonderfully. We all know Edweirdo, a very clever and useful hubber who created the HubDefender tool for us all which detects hub-theft and assists in dealing with it. Edweirdo has also written many helpful tutorial hubs on...

Paid forum posting is a business that's growing rapidly because of the glut of money in politics and the desire of commercial interests to promote their products and to blunt criticism.Should paid forum posters be forced to acknowledge that they are being paid? Should they be banned from posting...

I know you can have more than one account on HubPages. However in talking to someone recently, I realise I'm fuzzy about the rules. Can a staff member comment on the statements below please?I know that when you're posting in a forum thread, you MUST stick to using one...
