Two individuals and myself in a sociology class did a group semester project on internet dating. We each joined 3 sites for 3 months and then played the game. We each wrote our separate papers, but any hoot here are my stats.
Description Initiated Outcome %%%% Odds

Local 163 1 0.6% 1/163
Met 163 2 1.2% 1/81
Note: An initial contact is when a wink, flirt, etc is clicked on a profile.
The final result was 2 dates - 1 local & 1 @60 miles away. Both cases did not lead to further dating, yet one continued with a phone relationship temporarily.
