Thirty Days of Thankfulness

In recent years, social media outlets have asked participants to list one item a day they were thankful for during the month of November.

I decided to create a list with prayers included. Feel free to use my ideas and/or elaborate on them to create your own. You can use this list any time of year as well!

Bottom line is, no matter who you are, what you do, what you are going through, we all have a lot to be thankful for.

Even if you are not religious, please still read!

Day 1- I am thankful for…..Today.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for allowing me to wake up on this glorious day today. I have so much to be thankful for!

Day 2- I am thankful for…..Family.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for my family near and far. Thank you for watching over them and keeping them safe day after day.

Day 3- I am thankful for…..Friends.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for allowing me to find others in this world that share my same passions. I pray for those friends that I have lost contact with other the years. Please allow me to be the best friend I can be to others. Let me have open ears for listening, an open non-judgmental heart, and a soft voice that gives advice.

Day 4- I am thankful for…..My voice.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for allowing me a voice to speak my mind and advocate for others. Please help guide me to know when my opinions are not needed so I can hold my tongue and I don’t overstep my boundaries. Let me use my voice to help others and not to make others feel belittled or inferior.

Day 5- I am thankful for…..The Military (past, present, and future.)

• Dear Heavenly Father, I am thankful all of the military personnel that have made sacrifices to ensure my safety and fought for my freedom. I will forever be grateful for them and their families.

Day 6- I am thankful for…..My Mind.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for allowing me to remember the good memories and the bad. Thank you for allowing me the chance to reminisce. I pray that I will be able to continue to share my memories with future generations.

Day 7- I am thankful for…..Teachers.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for allowing me to have amazing teachers that inspired me and taught me to value my education. I pray that all teachers feel appreciated and valued and realize they are making a positive contribution to society.

Day 8- I am thankful for…..Children.

• Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that all children in this world have a safe place to call “home” and have a family that loves them. I pray that all children love and appreciate themselves and know that You have a plan for them.

Day 9- I am thankful for…..A Smile.

• Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that I can find at least one reason to smile each and every day. I pray that my smile is authentic and inspires others to smile too.

Day 10- I am thankful for…..Food and Water.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for providing me nutritious foods to provide energy for my family and myself. I pray that everyone in the world has access to healthy foods to eat and clean water to drink.

Day 11- I am thankful for…..Work.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for allowing me that chance to have a passion and a career. Thank you for providing me with a solid education so that I can do what I love- teach and inspire others. I pray that all of those without jobs will be able to find work so that they too can share their passions and gifts. I pray that everyone feels their jobs are appreciated and their hard work is worthwhile. I pray that our high school and college graduates are able to find careers in the area of their expertise. Thank you for all of the firefighters, doctors, nurses, police officers and all others who spend countless hours saving lives.

Day 12- I am thankful for…..Forgiveness.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for forgiving me for all of my sins. Let me be able to forgive others and be forgiven by them as well.

Day 13- I am thankful for…..Technology.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the ability to interact with others around the world. Thank you for allowing us to see our families when we live miles away or even on separate continents.

Day 14- I am thankful for…..Medical Advancement.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for medical advancement so that my life could be saved. Thank you for all of the hospitals, EMT's, doctors, and nurses and who save lives daily. Thank you for the chance to help save babies who are born too soon.

Day 15- I am thankful for…..Church.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for providing me a second home in a church. Thank you for giving me a pastor who knows You and wants me to follow You. Thank you visiting those who are unable to attend services so that they can continue to be a part of something great. Thank you for bringing me back when I stray.

Day 16- I am thankful for…..Transportation.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the ability to travel to see family and friends. Thank you for the means to travel by land, air, and sea. May everyone make it to their destination safely.

Day 17- I am thankful for…..Random Acts of Kindness.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the stranger who waves when I drive down their street. Thank you for the gentleman who opens a door and tips his hat. Thank you for the helping hand when I am broken down. Thank you for the random acts of kindness; may there be more kindness to report in the world.

Day 18- I am thankful for…..A Strong Body.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for providing me with a strong body. I pray that I appreciate my body and can control what I put into it. I am thankful for the opportunities to play sports and to learn what it is like to be a part of a team. I am thankful for knowing what it feels like to make the team and be cut. I am thankful that I know what it feels like to win and to lose.

Day 19- I am thankful for…..Reflection.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the ability to reflect and see ways for me to improve myself.

Day 20- I am thankful for…..My Parents.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for providing me with a mother and father who love me very much. I know I have caused them a lot of pain and stress throughout the years. I pray that they know how much I appreciate them for their guidance and wisdom through the good times and bad. I pray that everyone has loving parents that will stand by them too.

Day 21- I am thankful for…..The Bible.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for allowing others to read and share the word of God. Thank you for allowing us to find peace and tranquility in scriptures.

Day 22- I am thankful for…..My Sight.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you allowing me to see all of the wonderful sights in this world. I pray for all of those who have lost their their ability to see (both literally and figuratively) your magnificent world You have created for us.

Day 23- I am thankful for…..The Good Times.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the highest points in life, especially the ones I have yet to see.

Day 24- I am thankful for…..The Bad Times.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for allowing me the chance to experience the lowest points of life so that I may appreciate and remember the good.

Day 25- I am thankful for…..Trust.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for allowing me to trust you. Thank you for allowing others to trust me. I pray that I will always be a trustworthy person and I pray that others can depend on me.

Day 26- I am thankful for…..Hope, Dreams, and Wishes.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for ability to dream. Thank you for all of my hopes and dreams that have become reality. I pray that everyone in this world has at least one wish come true. I hope that they all realize the power of prayer.

Day 27- I am thankful for…..Home.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for providing me with shelter; I pray that others with find a shelter from the cold, heat, and rain. I pray that all of those who have lost their homes will be able to re-build their lives and future.

Day 28- I am thankful for…..The Sense of Touch.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for allowing me to feel the warm embrace of a hug, the softness of a kiss, the warmth from the sun, and the sand between my toes.

Day 29- I am thankful for….Prayer.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the moment of silence. Thank you for allowing me to find serenity and grace in You.

Day 30- I am thankful for…..The Holy Trinity- The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.

• Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for everything!
