Well... I don't think that it's as straightforward as that. First of all, I think what you mean is more so up to the Catholic Church/Faith ... it's not supposed to be what the Pope says, it's supposed to be what is in the best interests of protecting humanity's morality and ethics.
Going from that, I'd say that though not necessarily "mortal sins", the behavior that causes this pollution is clearly recognized in the Seven Deadly Sins (or Cardinal Sins) in the Catholic faith: Wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. The most obvious would be Greed, lust, and gluttony, with arguments to be made to easily include the others.
