Would you let astrology influence your decision to marry your partner?

In India it is common practise to match horroscopes before it comes to marriage. Would you let a negative horroscope match influence you in your choice of a partner?

Well.. What we match horoscope matching is actually the natal chart matching. Though it is not science, I would find some worth in it. The idea of matching is to see whether the boy and girl can live with each other given their inherent traits (it does not talk about behaviors or acquired traits, but just inherent traits), and how their character may possibly affect the other person's character. Naturally, if two people with totally opposite characters have absolutely no chance of co-existing on a long-term basis, it doesn't make sense for them to get married.

That doesn't mean that the natal chart matching doesn't have flaws. You cannot predict the future about the couple after 20 years. Everything may be perfect and they may still end up in a divorce due to some unforeseen circumstance. Or two people who have nothing in common can create a lasting bond. There is no saying how a person's character may change over time and due to circumstances. However, it would be a gamble.

That is one reason two people with non-matching natal charts don't usually get married. Of course, it is again left to each one's belief, whether they believe in astrology or not. It has worked to a good extant for me, so I prefer to go according to that most times (remember, horoscope is not completely astrology. It is just a part of it).

No, never. Horoscopes do not have that much value in my mind. They are too easy to morph into negative influences.

I believe love transcends the physical universe, of which creates the physical influences upon which horoscopes and planetary observations are made. This isn't to say I don't believe horoscopes can provide good info for determining favorable days for successful projects and social functions. Weddings are social functions, so yes I checked with astrological calendars when setting my wedding date. But no, I believe the choice of a life partner is determined on far greater factors than astrological compatibility and alignments.

No, although I believe that astrology has some truth in it, I don't believe 100% in astrology. When I wanted to marry my wife, I did consult a tarot-card reader, not expressedly for the purpose. I like to visit card readers, that's all. Sometimes, they can provide me with insights or a different angle that I've never considered before. I weigh what they say and make my own decisions, e.g. the tarot card reader told me not to marry my wife. I asked why and she said the marriage will end in divorce. Guess the card-reader felt that the age gap between me and my wife was too big... a whopping 14 years.

On my next trip, the card-reader asked me whether I dropped my wife who was then my girlfriend. I said no, and she refused to read for me. When I asked why, she simply said, "Why waste your money, if you don't want to listen to my advice?" So I forget about that card-reader after that. No big deal, right?

I have been married for more than 20 years now, and so far so good. I don't think I can find a better match because I know I am not easy to live with.
