What will be your only wish when you are dying?

We all have countless wishes, which we want to fullfil. All those wishes are probably not accomplished in a lifetime. So, is it worthy to ask for some more life, if you are dying or just ask for rest in peace by the almighty. Do we are honoured with human life to accomplish the wishes of god or our own? Is it necessary for humankind to complete the purpose of life which god has given us? Or we just living our lives in the love of materialism?

I wish for nothing, I thank god for my LIFE and i am happy with what i have.

I think its not worthy to ask for some more life because life would be the same as it was, Yes we are honored with human life and we are here for some purpose, May be to accomplish our promise that we have made before coming to this world.

I would not wish anything for myself because I believe I have lived my life exactly the way I was intended to...no more...no less.

I would wish for loved ones, I am leaving behind, to not have sorrow and to live a great life.

I expected something like this. Do you think your life has purpose other than your near and dear? You asked for prosperity for your loved ones. Did you completed the task of keeping the humanity prosperous, which god might have sent you for this?

There is always a purpose for everyone, whether we have fulfilled it, is up to God to determine. To be clear, I would ask for my loved ones to have a great life...that does not necessarily mean prosperity, but to me does mean happiness.

What is a life ideally lived?  We have an example of someone right now who has lived a life which sets a good example for us all.  Nelson Mandela died yesterday at age 95.   His praises are already being lauded right around the world.  Truly, this was a great man.  Some say, THE man of the 20th Century.  But even Mandella made his mistakes.

There is a poem, author anonymous, it seems, called 'The Man in the Mirror.
I cannot recite the poem but I can remember the final stanza which goes along the lines that you've led a good life if, at the end of it, "the man in the mirror" is your friend.

So it gets around to our evaluating our life as it nears its end; weighing up, as objectively as we can, the good we think/feel/believe we have done against the bad.  Also, the important tasks done that needed to be done as distinct from the ego-based wants that really were little more than feeble attempts to boosts our feelings of inadequacy as we identified with our self image and tried to impress others.

Our heart tells us what to do and not to do despite our conditioning.  There are always choices.  They come to us in an unending sequence.  As Winston Churchill said. "Life is one damn thing after another."   If we take heed of our inner guidance, cultivate it, then we are far more likely to find that at the end we are reasonably satisfied with how it unfolded and what we did on the journey.

My wish would be somewhat along the lines of "The Man in the Mirror," and that at the very end of it he was still my friend.

    Nothing!
We cannot plan our death, it may come any moment. It is wise to live with satisfaction every moment. Of course we have certain aspirations and responsibilities to fulfil, but they can be done only when we are alive. So without wasting a minute we should do whatever we can do.

That means, you will not have any responsibility that you wish to have fulfilled, at that moment. Well, your answer is to the present sense of yours. You may not know, what kind of materialistic love, you may fall in at that time.

I am not materialistic, even at this age and as we age and become more mature the materialistic desires are bound to decrease even further. If at all I have desired something in life, it is the well being of my loved ones and that wish will remain.

After death there is only the world of the  life thereafter,  either to the hell or paradise, this is the promise of our creator, in fact death is only our own imagination and we are all going to open our eyes and see better than now, He who created us is able to resurrect us again and we will face the reality of the life thereafter in a totally and completely different world as He promised.

Those who believed in existence of superior creator, lived to worship Him,obeyed His instructions, avoided the sins and always remembered and thanked Him during their life would be wishing to enter His promised paradise and would enter it again like our parents Eve and Adam who had been there and sent to the earth after they disobeyed His instructions.

Those who did not believe in His existence, ignored Him in their life, did not obey His instructions, committed all types of sins and always lived without thanking Him for their good fortune during their life,  or their bad fortune which might be for a wisdom not revealed to them will not be given further chance again, it will be too late for them to wish anything when they open their eyes and find the big real fact that there is a Creator ! and that hell is waiting for them.

My only wish when I am dying is to get my Creator's satisfaction about my righteous acts and for obeying of His instructions during my life to enter His eternal paradise.

Impressed by your answer. Now, will you ask for more, if you come to know from the almighty that the purpose of your life is not completed.

When the day of resurrection comes, it means only the end of our world and destruction of the earth, the almighty has fixed that day for accountability on our previous acts, not for talking about chances to return to the past.

Funny you should ask this question, my friend has just been given 5 months to live, I asked if he could have anything he wanted what would it be?

He told me "another 5 months."

I think this sums it up quite nicely, in the main non of us are programed to die, its just a consequence of life that we accept without question.

At the end, will you evaluate your life? Agreed, death is the ultimate truth that can not be faked. But, do we have achieved the aim of life after death? Is deatht the ultimate achievement or we are obliged to other duties with honoured human life?

At the moment of my death, I wish my children will carry on with their lives and accomplish whatever they wanted to do as I did. I do not wish them to cry over my death but to let go as living and dying is part of the cycle in life.

We are made by God for his purposes.
Our job is to love him and our neighbors and worship and serve Him.
My only wishes are to see Jesus when I die and that those that I care for and about are cared for afterwards.
