1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." If we truly repent through prayer, the Lord looks upon our heart and we are forgiven.
It is my understanding that God is always with you. You turn away from God, not the other way around, so just accept that God is there and live your life how you feel you should.
