when did the doctrine of free will enter the church?
What doctrine of free will? The Bible clearly teaches that the human heart is enslaved to sin. Adam and Eve were the last people to have a truly free will if by free you mean "able to choose to sin or to not sin".
Even Jesus Christ didn't have a "free will". He said clearly that he only did the things told him by the Father in John 5:19.
