What happened to the other 2 billion people?  (Must be a quote abut ten years old.)

Anyway, I disagree.  We don't need ANY religions.  Religions are stupid, for stupid people, and evil.

The assumption in the statement is that a religion must be perfectly suited to the person.  If this is true, then religion is not a matter of fact, but rather a personal philosophy.  Yes, each person must develop their own personal philosophy of life, but religion is about worshiping something or someone greater than ourselves.  If the one we are worshiping is greater than ourselves, then we can't expect it, him, or her, to adapt to our personal preferences.  It is a matter of how that God wants to be worshiped.  It is about his nature, not ours.
This statement would be true if religion were of human origin.  Each person would design their own to suit themselves.  But if there is a God, then it is not up to us to change it to suit ourselves.
