What is the central theme of Christianity?
We are preaching salvation, But what if God intended life to be more than a way to get to heaven? Is it possible that you can find beauty, hope and surity today?
The central theme of Christianity and of other religions as well is faith. Religions are faith based.
Love God. Love human beings. Jesus has sacrificed his life for mankind. Also we should do sacrifice.
Christianity's central theme is to love others, forgive yourself and others, while communicating with God the best you can.
That's my take on it, anyway.
take a look at the world around you. Yes, sin has put a strain upon the beauty, but it is still laced in stupendous wonder and awe. What if God was some intimate being who wants to spend time with you, make you smile and enjoys your company. Think about it, He flavoured food, sunsets are printed into living cnavases, oozing with creative flare. Creation is a living marvel. Why would He create so much beauty into it if you didn't mean the world to Him?
When Jesus was asked what is the greatest teaching of the law, he replied, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
So you are on the right track when you think that Christianity is more than just getting saved. Its about living that life of love we were designed to live. In that, we will find beauty, hope, and surety for today.
God does not want to just save us; He wants to transform us to bring about His will in this world. In being part of that, we will find the greatest blessings imaginable. Salvation is just the doorway to a better life lived in the here and now. It is not the central theme. Jesus said the central theme was love.
Love god and love others. But more specifically, draw and follow as closely to God as possible because He is Love. Knowing him better teaches us how to Love him and others better. A major part of Loving others is charity. Whether that be giving money or going into all the nations to spread the love and hope of Jesus Christ.
LOVE
1 Corinthians 13:13
Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love. (MSG Version)

Why do people of different religions constantly argue which is the the "true" religion? It seems like a never ending cycle. It seems like a war of words. I became caught in it at one time myself. I don't know that anyone will ever win it?

Religion and 'bad' things - why do we see it in others religions only?Reading a few questions lately, this jumped out at me. Many are quick to point out the bad things in another's religion, yet when confronted with the same from their own, are quick to point out the difference between the two -...
