I think we all have different purposes in life. My purpose in life may be different with yours, but overall we are here to complement each other and make the world a better place.

What we each feel is our purpose is of course completely individual. What is the real purpose of Life? Ask the guy who created it. My bet is some advanced alien species. If you take it back far enough, then you start having to face the concept of God, but just one step back- alien for sure. There are too many indications over the centuries to make me believe that an alien eyes watches us and now and then helps us. We need it!

The purpose of life is the same for all of us, we were obviously put here to investigate why we were put here. To find answers.
Not to just sit around doing nothing. And everything that makes life worth living we were put here to do. All good things for ourselves and others, and refraining from bad things.

In my opinion, Our basic purpose of life is for praising the GOD. GOD created everyone for praising him and praying him. But most of the human beings not following it.

I believe that people have different destinies and that each must be fulfilled by that individual. We are made to leave a mark of our own. We must be able to know our destinies. Life is about the journey. As each of us are different, so are our journeys and I guess, so are are purposes as well. Not everyone is born to be a teacher, some are born to serve the country and become politicians or soldiers of doctors. Each of us have our own part in making a difference in the world. It is up to us to do that.

I think it may be both.  Common because we are all here for a reason...and different for each individual because we are each unique with unique gifts, talents and therefore suppose to leave our mark on the world because we are each "...fearfully and wonderfully made..." (Ps 139:14)

Each and every one of us has a part to play in the Masters plan...soul purpose...your soul desires the pleasures it sees...a war within ones self...self control and will power makes your transit...an easier ride...buckle up...its one hell of a bumpy ride...making you swallow Pride to allow humility to thrive

The sole purpose of everyone of us is SATISFACTION..... We are running towards this, through different routes.... Satisfaction mean different to different persons....
Some find this in God, some in Money, Some in Fame....and some in any other thing.....

I think it's more of an individual quest to find our purpose in life.  This may take a lifetime, or at some aspect in life that we are experiencing, like death of a loved one, a birth of a baby, our careers, who we interact with.  It's not uncommon for everyone to think about what our purpose would be in life. The answer is from worshipping God and appreciating the talents and abilities that we are blessed with.

Everyone's purpose is different just as every individual is different.

good question, and very good answers.  May I add some thoughts.
We are all very unique individuals and my choose very different pathways.  and fulfill different destinies.  One common purpose we share is to learn to  develop and share character traits, talents gifts and love with each other along the path.  Another common purpose of life is to learn , and apply natural truths and laws, for the common good.  I like the concept of progression to a higher, or better individual, and thus a better society.  We can affect for good or bad.

Thank you all for your answers. I went to another neighborhood today with one of my friend. He was talking about how he enjoyed his childhood there. And I realized I can never had the experience he had and the same goes for him too. We only have one life and can only feel and experience very little of the indefinite combinations present in the earth.

I don't know, but maybe we all have a common purpose. To feel and experience everything around us with our unique minds and views which of course is overly influenced by the surroundings we live in. I don't know. I don't know to which direction this thought will lead.

It's gotta be different for everyone or else we'd all be the same. I did a hub about this I hope it makes sense to you.

I think it differs, in order for us to work together. My job might be to write an article that helps someone change their life for the positive. Someone else might be on earth to uplift people; such as, Martin Luther King, Jr., Gandhi, or Mother Teresa. A woman might be here to give birth to the next great genius! Nevertheless, we should respect everyone's positive contribution to society.

We each have different callings in our lives, so some of our purposes in life will differ, but our main purpose is to worship the Almighty God.

I don't think that there is any single answer that applies to all people. In fact, I recently wrote a hub about this:
