Is it better to have 1 religion that everyone believes in for peace sake, or allow choice?

Is it better to only have one religion that everyone believes in for peace sake, or allow people to believe in many different religions?

Religious wars are still plaguing the world, would it be better to just generalize religion

That may be better but nobody would be able to agree on what that one religion would need to be.

This question might be better suited to be posted in the forum.
But, in my opinion no, it would not cause peace at all. Everyone one be of the same belief so, there would be no originality between religious thinking. Opposites can attract.

The 1 and only true religion for all humanity to live on the earth and throughout all eternity is this: be love be peace be free this is who you are and every single human being on the earth.

Allow choice!  Freedom of religion is one of the most basic freedoms anyone can have.  The issue of wars should be dealt with by other means, like ceasefires etc (yes I know they are not always effective, but still....or by ideological means like pointing out that most religions tell followers NOT to kill their neighbor).

I wouldn't dream of taking away anyone's ability of freedom of thought or of speech, and the proposal of one religion would take away both.  (In practice it would probably result in a huge percentage of the population incarcerated for breaking the law!)

Well, first off, how are you planning on making that happen?  Do you just want to tell everyone that what their ancestors have taught down through the generations is wrong?

WE HAVE A GOD GIVEN CHOICE AND TRUTH IS TRUTH WE ONLY CAN BUILD ON WHAT WE HAVE IN COMMON WE CAN ONLY STAY OPEN IF WE KNOW THAT  GOD EXIST IF WE BELIEVE -- WE CAN BUILD,SO MAN SHOULDN'T IMPOSE A BELIEF OR WAY OF LIFE BUT SHOULD PROPOGATE PROPER GUIDANCE AND SHOW A GOOD EXAMPLE. GOD IS THE BEST OF PLANNERS AND HIS PLAN WILL PREVAIL SO MAN IS AT THE MERCY OF THE ONE WHO CREATED HIM AND ALL MEN POSSESS THE ABILITY TO BELIEVE BUT DUE TO OUR INSISTANCE ON FOLLOWING AND PROTECTING THE FRUITS OF OUR USELESS PERSUITS WE ARE BLINDED. MAY PEACE AND BLESSINGS POUR ON ALL MANKIND THE TRUE PATH IS NOT HARD TO FIND,

or eliminate it altogether.  No one is ever going to agree on a single religion, and this has been proven repeatedly throughout history.  In the crusades, the catholics gave muslims the choice: convert or die.  When the muslims retook jerusalem, they let the christians go.  The catholics also practiced the same philosophy throughout the inquisition.  There are over 3000 denominations in christianity alone.  Even people who share the same basic beliefs can't agree on maters of doctrine - how could everyone else be expected to conform?

You really asked a great question.

I wish there could be one religion everyone believed in so we could all live in harmony.  However, to love God a person must choose to love God. If religions are supposed to move people closer to God then there has to be a choice.

With that said, if I had my way.
The religion would be simple.  Love all living beings as part of the whole (GOD, Allah, Vishnu etc.). Help others to live in peace. Try to avoid violence at all possible.

    I hope this was helpful.
