    What is intercessory prayer?

An intercessory prayer is a prayer (typically Catholic in nature) where you ask God or a saint to "interceed" in human affairs.  For example, during a Catholic Mass there are prayers of Intercession or "petition" in which the congregation prays that God will do things such as grant peace to libya, help those in Japan, or put a stop to abortion.  While things such as "God help me get a new car" could be considered intercessory prayers, they are typically things on a wider/universal/global level.

Intercessory prayer is the empowering act of praying on behalf of others. Releasing your faith to connect with someone else faith.

Jesus closed the gap between us and God when He died on the cross and HE JESUS took all power from the enemy and then gave us authority over the enemy. We (the body of Christ) are all connected spiritually and when we pray for one another we are blessing the whole body and not just someone else but our self as well.

That truth must be heard and actively presented in the church so that others can and will be blessed when we all pray for one another.

Please check out my hubs on this topic as well.

Thank you for your question. Another good question.

Although we can pray directly to God about anything, because God's Son Jesus Christ gave his life to erase our sins, we can also ask Jesus to intercede or speak on our behalf to God for whatever we pray about.  Hope that helps.
