In my humble opinion, the only blasphemy which truly exists is cursing yourself. There is forgiveness in the sense that we are allowed to do so, yet there is consequence. The consequence may come in the form of illness, a loss of things we are attached to, or even abject adversaries. Pick your poison, you might say...
Challenges are never intended to destroy you- they are intended to make you stronger. What comforts you, taken in excess, is what will cause you to destroy yourself if you allow it to.
Regardless of how you look at things, your problem is never 'out there.' The good news is, neither is your solution.
How do you "curse yourself?" By not "Believing" in God?
We are supposed to worship God, not a mortal woman
No. I grew up in Christianity, but it was not until just 30 years old that I became familiar with the ways of the East. I soon began to realise, with further reading, that all in the East and indeed within Faiths, have an equivalent, just called by different names.
So for example, using the Rosary is a form of prayer or supplication just as the Japa (repetition) of beads or malas in the East. A mantra, in a loose sense, is an incantation or invocation according to how it's used, and "Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us" or "Hail Mary" or what ever, are very similar.
I always say that what matters is Sincerity of Purpose, Purity of Intent. Indeed God already knows or Hearts and our purity of intention pleases Him most. Prayer is generally an entreaty; or supplication to the Divine, but it can also be an attempt to invoke God's presence, purely for Love's sake, without asking anything in return. This is the prayer of Surrender.
Most of the time, one is using the prayer of entreaty on the rosary, that is to say, asking for something. You only need to look at the notice boards of a few chapels, to see how base or gross, some prayers can be. But we need not mimic or gloat at this, we are where we are and indeed some are very genuine.
From a practical standpoint, we speak of focus or concentration in the Spiritual life, and praying or chanting with an aid, can enhance this focus, and if practiced regularly, may lead to a very concentrated mind.
What is blasphemy? Let us just say that it's an old word, really. We are all Spirited Souls or Children of Spirit, if you like, and when the call is intense, there will be a response from within, whether we use beads, rosaries or count on stones. It is the purity of the Heart that will attract the Divine.
We see that from time immemorial, man has used many forms of worship: dance, whirl, prayer, music, breathing, exercise; mantras, meditation, service .....they are all useful to a greater or lesser extent.
Back to the Orange or flower garden. There is the rind, skin or peel, flesh, seeds, juice ..... or rose, tulips, sunflowers ...all dancing a different but necessary dance to the melody of the Flautist Divine. Much Love.
Hail Mary...i have a problem with that. Hailing Mary in any prayer is blasphemy
That's fine, Clive.
In the same way a country may apply laws that seem strange to us, with humans it is simply a matter of vision. The Heart ... the Heart ...God knows and sees the Heart. All great Souls ask us to be like children.
"Idol god" (Mary)!
Man: The "way of the east" has lost your soul - "idol god" also! Blasphemy - "an old word" so is bible! You hate it too? See - LOST!
I always think that God speaks to me through people. Can't I speak to him through people? Alive or dead would make no difference. Some folk seem to have a closer connection. One time someone asked me to pray for them. Is it different?
"Can't I speak to him through people?" You don't need "people" to speak to GOD! Eph 2:14! Heb 7:25;8:34!
READ or you'll never KNOW!
"Closer connection" bcuz "lazy" - Won't READ!
Clive, the Hail Mary is a request that Mary pray for our sins. It's like asking someone to pray for you.
Most think their dear departed "grandma" can offer prayer for them too but I can't find that in Bible either!
Yes, Clive, I think you're a nice guy, but people can pray for us too. I can pray for you and devout people can. Pray for me too. The secret here is who the prayer reaches. A pure Heart and intention , go straight to the Infinite on our behalf.
"People" CAN'T "pray for me!" Jm 5:16 says "...The effectual fervent prayer of a RIGHTEOUS man availeth much!" Who is "RIGHTEOUS" but one who "BELIEVES" in the "rightly divided" WORD of GOD?
Please don't!
What are so many of us doing praying for each other and lifting each other up? Hey I even prayed that my wife's prayers be heard. If you pray "wrong" you are bad? We can only pray the Lord's Prayer?
IGNORANT! Don't know WORD! Ironically, I've been telling ALL we are not brothers unless we agree with AFTER THE DAY OF PENTECOST! The Bible calls those "the RIGHTEOUS!" People THINK they're Christians but not according to WORD! IT applies to those
My devoutly Catholic grandmother would have beaten you with her rosary beads just for suggesting this!
I can see why a non-Catholic might ask this. People who aren't part of the church don't understand the various prayers, mysteries, and appeals to the Blessed Virgin. Really, the rosary assists in meditation, of clearing the head of all but words of prayer. If recited thoughtfully, a rosary can take up to an hour to complete.
Saying the rosary may not conform to other peoples' view of how to pray, but it's one of the most spiritual things a Catholic can do in their everyday life.
er. ...who is the blessed virgin? Why appeal to her. Is she a God?
"...it's one of the most spiritual things a Catholic can do..." What kind of spirit? I've never send a Catholic act like they did on the Day of Pentecost when "FIRE sat upon each of them!" They'd throw 1 out w/the reactions mentioned in Acts 2!
Clive, the Blessed Virgin is Mary, Mother of God. Catholics believe that saints can intercede on their behalf. The Hail Mary is a prayer to Mary, asking her to pray for us.
Norine, you don't know anything about this. You're not Catholic.
*GOD SAID is what we should concern ourselves with, not who "knows!" Exd 20:3 "should be" enough for you*! Catholics go against what HE'S SAID by praying to a woman! JESUS "makes intercession" (Heb 7:25) not a woman!
You've been "DECEIVED!"
It's a shame you don't know about any religion but your own. To Catholics, the Blessed Virgin is not a woman. She's the mother of God. We don't pray to her as a God. We pray to her as a saint who can intercede. It's akin to asking her to pray for you
I see NOTHING in Bible that Mary is to make "intercession" for us! How can you just swallow "sink, line & hooker" w/o "STUDYING" what's in Bible? She's not the only one who "found favor w/GOD!" It's a shame u don't know Bible (Exd 20:3)!
You don't see it because whatever sect you belong to doesn't emphasize it. So, here are some verses about intersession: Rev. 5:8, Rev. 8:3–4, Timothy 2:5. If you need more answers, feel free to seek them at your local Catholic church.
I was following along until you got to Timothy which kind of seems to discount the Saints as possible intercessors. Help me out here -- my wife love Mary and the Saints.
Sorry, I should have included the whole thing: 1 Tim. 2:1–4. Really, I think Rev. 8:3–4 is the best one.
Did u keep reading I Tim 2:5 "For there is ONE GOD, & 1 mediator (intercessor) btwn GOD & man (Mary) JESUS CHRIST" (not Mary)!
Rev? Do we live in 3rd heaven today? Hebrews told us to STOP making SACRIFICES & BURNT OFFERINGS (Heb 10:6) bcu
Norine, please seek clarification of intersession at your local Catholic church. I'm sure you'd have fun debating this point with a parish priest. I'm not interested in your psuedo-Christian rants on the Bible. He asked, and I answered. We're done!
You are "done!" Keep offering "sacrifices and burnt offering" in violation of GOD'S WORD in Hebrews, keep getting "sprinkled" for baptism under law (F,S,&HS), keep "hailing Mary," keep taking "communion" (sacrifice), - "DONE!"
Heb 9:10"DEAD WORK
Lisa, thanks -- I just love learning the good stuff. I like in church giving a prayer out to all teachers of the word. They need it. I did some preaching for a while and it sure is easy to criticize them, but not so easy to do.
Go to a priest (man)? (Heb 8:4) That's ur problem! Go to BIBLE! See what GOD SAID & stop listening to DECEIVERS! If u err in 1 (Heb 7:22-28), u err in ALL! Catholics worship under LAW w/burnt offerings & sacrifices! HE died in vain (Gal 2:16-
Clive, that's what I have never understood. Mary is the "virigin". (ha, ha) Why people pray to a dead mortal is beyond me
Me too Frump; especially when I Cor 3:21 says "Therefore LET NO MAN GLORY IN "MEN..."!
I guess that forgot that One!
It SURE is!!! The "Catholic Faith" (Organized Religion) is going to cause so MANY, MANY to lose their souls, if they don't "Repent" (Acts 2:38)!
ANYTHING that goes against GOD'S WORD is demonic (I Corinthians 10:21) and Satan is doing as Scripture says he would, "kill, steal and destroy" (John 10:10)! This is not "MY" personal opinion yet my "BELIEF" because GOD has said IT and I BELIEVE "every Word" HE has said!
Hebrews 8:7 {paraphrasing} "If the first covenant was not faultless, there who have been no need for a second." Therefore, HE made a "new covenant," (Hebrews 8:10). He spoke of the old covenant which was of a "worldly sanctuary with candlesticks, "shewbread" and other manner of "worldly objects" (which the Catholic Faith current use operating under the "old covenant") and is against the "new covenant" which Christ died for! All of these "carnal ordinances" were imposed on them until the "time of reformation" (Christ came; Hebrews 9:10)! "If the blood of bulls and goats purified the flesh; how much more shall the blood of Christ purge your conscience from "dead works" to serve the living God" {paraphrasing Hebrews 9:11-14}! Yet the Catholic Faith continue to operate under the "old covenant" by Holy Eucharist which consists of that of the Eucharist sacrifice, the sacrificial meal, and the sacrificial food, or to express it otherwise, it consists of the doctrine of the Mass, of Communion, which is TOTALLY "against Scripture!"
GOD SAID in Hebrews 10:5-6;14 (5) "Wherefore when "HE Cometh" into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering THOU WOULDEST NOT, but a body has thou prepared me: (v6) in "burnt offering and sacrifices" for sin THOU HAS NO PLEASURE!" (V14) "For by ONE OFFERING (CHRIST) he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified!" I guess the "Catholic Faith" (AND THE MAJORITY OF OTHERS WHO ARE "SPIN OFFS" FROM THE CATHOLIC FAITH) forget to read this? If so, why then do they continue in their "dead works" under the "old covenant?"
For all continuing under the old covenant (Galatians 4) verse 26 applies "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the "TRUTH," there remaineth NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SINS!" Why do that when Scripture says otherwise? You have made SATAN very happy believing in the DECEPTION of the Catholic Faith AND "THEIR DOCTRINE!"
Yes, praying to a woman who "had favor with GOD" (Luke 1:30) but is NOT GOD is BLASPHEMY! Exodus 20:3 says "THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER GOD BEFORE ME!"
IT IS WRITTEN!
I'm fully agreed with Eric. There are things in the Holy Bible, which are there for only those who have eyes to see.
Well, open your "spiritual eyes" and read the Book of Hebrews then tell me how many things the Catholic Faith defies the WORD of GOD in "their belief" serving "their god!"
Thank you!
The Words of God never grow old. What are in the Law of God stay. There is no such thing as the Old Covenant. A common few try to make things their own way. One can fools himself but not God. The New Testament doesn't change the Law of God
Who told u that? Why don't u READ "Hebrews!"
The New Covenant "fulfilled" the LAW (Old Covenant;Gal 3:23-25)!
Why don't u BELIEVE what's in Bible? Have you been "brainwashed?" I'm telling WORD! You READ!
Thank you!
Jesus Himself said: ''I'm not come to change the law ; but to fulfill it!'' No man has the right to change of what had been written in the law. The law might had written some hundred of years ago. That does not means that the law is old.
And HE "fulfilled" it according to the Book of Hebrews!
Why don't you READ instead of going along with your "traditions?"
Oh yeah, the "law is old" IF you live under "GRACE!" Rm 11:6 "if by GRACE, then is it no more of WORKS, otherwise no GRACE.."
Hi!
Praying the Holy Rosary is not Blasphemy. On the contrary, the Mother of God, Mary, she urged us to pray the Rosary everyday. Next to the Holy Mass, praying the Holy Rosary is considered to be the second biggest prayer ever. Don't let anyone tells you otherwise. For many, praying the Holy Rosary is boring and a repetition of prayer. Each 'Hail Mary', is a prayer of its own value. And nothing stop you or anyone else to ask God for something again and again. But one has to make sure that a prayer is a conversation to God. And in this case, one has to fully concentrate and really means of what he is saying to God. His mind should not be on other things while saying a prayer. One can't pretend to say a prayer or talking to God, whilst his mind is tossing over the ocean. Or is thinking what he or she is going to cook to-night for supper. Many people when doing their morning or evening prayer, they more or less mumble about with their mind on something else. In that case this is not praying at all. And God won't answer what he is asking for. Thank you!
Louis
Please provide Scripture where "Mary, she urged us to pray the Rosary everyday."
Thank you!
http://hubpages.com/religion-philosophy … blasphemy#
This is not in the scripture. This message was passed over to the three children to cascade to us, during her apparitions at Fatima. May be, you have heard of it!
The "philosophy" of man is not what Scripture says we MUST adhere to; only the BIBLE! If IT IS NOT WRITTEN, it's a LIE! READ Rm 3:4 "Let GOD (WORD) be true, but EVERY MAN a "liar!" Why I quote WORD majority of time!
Yes, saw children in movie.
Norine you are sometimes a bit crazy. "The sky appears blue". That is not in the Bible. But it is very true. Everything we know is not in the Bible. The Bible is not all we know. You being kooky is not in the Bible but it is true beyond any doubt.
Eric: "Philosophical" vs "Spiritual" is what we're talking not physical/natural thgs! Why do you always compare "physical" to "Spiritual?" When talking Bible, it's "Spiritual!" I wish you'd grow "Spiritually!"
Bless you Norine. I just happen to live in life. My buddies in crisis do not want to hear about you. They want life in action. They want love. The Bible is all cool. But it does not bridge the gap. I love. My heart gives hope. Does yours?
Eric:If you just "live in life" (flesh; Rm 8:13), GOD has no part w/you (Rm 8:8)!
"Buddies in crisis" want LIES!
The Bible is GOD Who IS love! If Bible only "cool" but doesn't bridge "gap," YOU ARE LOST!
What "hope" w/o love (Rm 8:24)!
Norine you are goofy. It is all good we need your goofiness. Bless you. But no one can take you seriously.
No one is mature enough in the Spirit (Babes) to take me "seriously!" They need to READ Scripture instead of thinking GOD is ALL "love!" Yes, HE LOVES, but those who love HIM "in the Spirit" and that's where NO ONE is!
So guess what?
Christianity can be understood only from the inside. It is only after personal encounter with Jesus Christ that a man can understand. To criticize from outside, is to criticize in ignorance!
Lois- your answer is so full of lies. There is NOTHING IN THE BIBLE TO SUPPORT YOUR ANSWER. NOTHING.
Christianity is READING Bible and doing as commanded! That's a JESUS FOLLOWER (Disciple/Christian) who THEN changes from the inside after BELIEVING what's READ!
Again, READ the Book of Hebrews & tell me if your Faith defies!
Thank you!
Norine, where in the Bible does it even remotely suggest women do what you do?
EVERYONE who is "IN CHRIST" should do as I do! "GOD is no respector of person" (Acts 10:34)! Acts 2:17 "Daughters will prophecy" (Joel 2:28)!
Why don't you STUDY God's Word? Don't believe NOTHING but WORD when it comes to your SALVATION & "belie
You know! It took me sometimes to realize where you're coming from. Now, I know. May the Lord have pity on you! Believe me! you will need it! I'm happy to say, as the true children of God. We pray for those who persecute us.
To each their own. The only problem I have (I am a protestant) is hearing about all the pediphiles. It gives the religion a bad reputation. I think the church should allow priests to get married and nuns, too
I agree Kingdom Come and so are their "spin offs!"

Also, the book of Maccabes is not in the KJV (sorry spelling)and that is the only book, as far as I know, where it talks about praying FOR the dead.Bible believers believe that Christ paid our sins, once and for all, so we are (in Ephesians it says) saved by grace Thru faith - not by works, lest...

Is praying to Mary & the saints, like Catholicism teaches an act of false worship? The Bible teaches us to worship God only (Ex. 20:3-5; Rev. 19:10); but the Roman Catholic Church teaches its adherents to pray to Mary and the saints. They even bow down to statues and pictures of them when they...
