Should christians presently be observing sabbath, holy days and tithing ?
Hi Voice CIW, I want to know should we be still observing the sabbath, holy days and still tithing? I am having financial hardship presently..is it because I'm not tithing? thanks for your insight..
i don't go to church, but you can still follow your beliefs and have problems. Everyone does. Sometimes these things don't involve religion, it can just be present circumstances.
God bless you mdiggs1234, we are to honor the Sabbath day, but our (Christians) Sabbath day is Sunday, because Jesus rose from the dead on the first day of the week (Sunday). If you are talking about the Jewish holy days, and then I have to know which holy day you are talking about, because some of the things that the Jewish honor that is part of their religion, we do not participate in because we are under the New Covenant, which is Grace and Mercy through Jesus Christ. Some of the rituals, and festivals that are part of the Old Covenant was a substitute, until Jesus Christ came, when Jeust Christ came, died, and rose from the dead, He fulfilled the law, and did away with the rituals and festivals, that some Jews still honor. As for tithes, to tell you the truth this is very touchy. Some churches and Pastors do not collect tithes, because they feel that tithes were a part of the Old Covenant, Others have said that the New Testament in the Bible do not mention we are to tithe. I have looked in the New Testament and I, myself, have not found anywhere in the New Testament that we are to tithe, it did say we are give liberally, when we can in our offerings in the church. Then there are many Pastors who will tell their congregation that if they did not tithe, they would have financial hardship, which I was strongly against. God is a loving God, He knows if you are having financial problems, and would not require you to give tithes if you were unable to give. I gave tithes because I was trained to give tithes. Have you ever given tithes? If not pray on it, ask God to give you an understanding. I would say that your financial problems is not from you not paying tithes. But, it is not about how I feel, it is how you feel. I know you want to feel comfortable about doing the right thing, I hope I have helped you, if not come back and tell me and I will do more reasearch to help you. Be blessed, I love you in the Lord.

Does God make exceptions to tithing?Consider this true scenario. A faithful tither finds that an error has been made in salary. The employer removes $1000.Inquiries are made; there are promises to correct the error. The individual returns a tithe and offering anyhow. The following month, the same...

What is the Motivation behind tithing?"Most people who tithe, and many people who preach tithing, are motivated not by generosity but by greed" Do you agree with this statement?

So often in order to feel comfortable in church (without being harassed) many members feel they are obligated to give money to the church! Many times clergy preach a forceful sermon concerning tithing when the bills are due at the church or the clergy want to do something with the church money!The...
