   The name Michael means: ''Someone Who Knows How To Keep The Balance Equal''

   Your question has been answered already by at least two responders who stated "One who is like God"  and I hasten to add, there is only One that can claim this, and it is the One who walked on this earth for 331/2 years in the form of human flesh.  Only He can say "I and the Father are one"

   From the original Hebrew, the meaning is "Who is like God?" - a question of comparison meaning that NO ONE is like God.  It has been watered down over the years to "One who is like God" but if you were to ask someone who knows Hebrew, that is what I believe they would tell you.
