Assuming that there is a god, why did he(it) create free will?
God gave man free will, so he could make choices. He gave man the choice of maturing, learning and making things better for others. If we did not have free will, we would be walking around like a heard of sheep. I do not think that is what God had in mind for us.
Because you can't force someone to love you. God wants our love, but it's not love unless it's voluntarily given. He gave us free will for this reason.
