    What makes you joyful?

The question, what makes you happy has already been posted in this forum.  But I think that more than happiness, it is important for us to realize what actually makes us JOYFUL.  Happiness is transitory, joy on the one hand, is long lasting.  A married man could be happy on his wedding day but may not be after 5 or 10 year of marriage.  But, a joyful married man could top it all regardless of all the difficulties of a married life.  Any thoughts?

I like your explanation!  To me Joy is the Knowledge that this world is not my Home, just a stopping place.  I won't have to be here forever.  Joy means that I don't have to be happy, but still I feel secure and confident in my Future.  Happiness is generally based upon greed, as opposed to Joy which is born out of Love.

My faith and my family are what make me joyful.  Despite what daily challenges come my way, my faith is a constant in my life and a reminder that as samack says, I am just a visitor here.  My family always brings a smile to may face whether it is memories of raising my children or the fun and delightful things my grandchildren do.  And of course there is my husband who is my partner in faith and family.

I agree, feeling happy about a situation or something is somewhat temporary. Joy on the other hand, is a constant feeling of contentment. For example, knowing that God cares for me and will always be there for me, gives me the strength to deal with obstacles and circumstances. This is my joy! So it's really a joyful feeling that will always gonna be inside from knowing that God cares.

Knowing that my Father loves me, in spite of myself makes me joyful. Knowing that my Father is a man that cannot and does not lie makes me joyful. Knowing that my Father is faithful and will not change His mind about me makes me joyful. Having a relationship with God, the Father and His Son Jesus makes me joyful.

I am joyful that God's will is coming to earth soon. Just as the Lord's prayer says.
