Is honesty the best policy? If so, why? And with whom is it most important to be honest?
Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy. Telling untruths is unfair to both the teller and the listener. When you tell the truth you never have to remember what story to fall back on, there is only one and that's the truth. Telling lies will ruin your reputation to the point no one will ever trust you again.
It is always best to be honest with EVERYONE! They may not like what you have to say but in the end you will both be better off for it.

Is honesty the best policy, when it comes to various things? If so, do we tell children about certain holiday characters that don't really exist and do we let them know to be honest when talking about such things to other children? Is being honest with others the same as being honest with yourself?...

Do you believe honesty is the best policy?. . . .more. . Is it, in your opinion ALWAYS so? Would you stick with that maxim if the stakes were high and you had a good chance of getting away with it, OR do you think that is all hogwash and is used to control the naive ?
