   the mark of the beast is considered to be 666. The bible says those with wisdom should understand that 666 means a name.

      When people take scriptures from all over the bible to make a point while there is that one scripture plainly explaining it. They're trying to convince you of their answer. Not the bibles answer.

   The mark of the beast is a device implanted into ones forehead or hand that has ones personal information on it and is used like a credit card/bank card for the purpose of buyng products and services and for depositing funds into an account.
   This will be brought forth by the anti-christ. Once one takes this mark, one is marked by the beast (satan) for his kingdom. There is no chance at redemption, no chance to come to Christ.

   I believe that the mark of the beast is the "cross". It was a symbol used by sun worshipers. It is also a symbol used by most Christian churches, It is also a Mark left by the tribe of Dan. See the flag of Denmark and other European countries. Everything was conquered under the sign of the cross. Some of my Hubs talk about this subject.

   Revelation is an example of Apocalyptic literature, a particular literary tradition of the Near East used from the time of the Babylonian exile to about 200 A.D. There are other surviving works in it. As a literary style, it has to be read in context.
   
   The number of the beast is a symbol for the Roman emperor Nero, a figure of terror to early Christians for his vigorous persecutions of them. Revelation was written during the reign of Domitian, who revived the suppression of religious orders not approved by the state and whom many in the East believed might be a reincarnation of Nero.
   
   The mark of the beast is the libelum, the Latin word for an imperial permit to engage in economic transactions including finding securing employment or buying food at the market. To get one, the emperor's subject had to swear to worship him as a god and to avoid religious practices not part of the official pantheon. Christians could of course not do that, and so they were frozen out of the economic system. Many of those who were not murdered outright by the emperor's agents were impoverished, numbers of them starving to death, as a result.
   
   Revelation is a letter to some of the churches in Greek Anatolia (modern Turkey) urging them to stand fast in the faith despite their hardships. It probably was written in Apocalyptic style for two reasons: that was a symbolic literature within the experience and understanding of its readers, and it avoided explicit statements that could be used against its writer as evidence in court.
   
   Revelation is not a prophecy. While it offers insights useful to all ages, it deals with concrete issues of its day. It has nothing to say about the end of the world. The mark of the beast is that business license issued by the Roman empire. Any microchip or tattoo proposed today could and likely would be used in a similar way by a tyrannical state, but that is due to the fact that tyranny has not changed its practices throughout human history, it has only used the tools available to it at the time. Revelation does not prophesy anything that is happening today.

      This is a good answer but its not to the point. Revelation is a prophecy. How can it be current to that time era when it clearly speaks of the end OF time.

   The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

   It seems there are as many interpretations of this passage as there are Christian denominations. Some believe these verses refer to a tattoo, a brand, or even a microchip implant. Theories also abound about the number 666.

A common theory about 666 is that it was the numerical total for the name Nero Caesar, a Roman emperor who persecuted Christians. Tradition says Nero had the Apostle Paul beheaded about 64 or 65 A.D.
   
   Numbers are often used symbolically in the Bible, the number 7 representing perfection. The Antichrist, a man, has the number 666, which continually falls short of perfection. The letters in Jesus Christ supposedly total 888, which goes beyond perfection.
   
   Recently, many claim that the implant of medical or financial electronic ID chips are the mark of the beast. Others point to credit or debit cards. While those items may be an indication of what is to come, Bible scholars agree that the mark of the beast will be a recognizable sign of those who have voluntarily chosen to follow the Antichrist.

   I agree with some of what Attikos has said about this So Called Mark But do Not agree with summery of the Book of Revelation(s). First off the History is correct and his thinking is wise to the likeness of The Mark that will come.
   
   What will Mark the Members or Followers of the Beast is simply this. And the whole world will be deceive in It.
   
   Much like Hitler's words the people at this Time will be memorized  by what they are hearing and seeing. The Marks will be their Thinking and their Laboring to the Movement. That this (Man) will freely cause to come about.
   
   Remember he comes pretending to Be GOD or Jesus. So the Beast is not the Man! This Man is the anti-Christ! The Beast is the Movement brought about by the man's words, his speeches, his vision, and It is a one world Vision.
   
   This is an unstoppable event for it brings in the New Age. This event separates the Sheep from the Goats. There will be some kind of Tecno stuff enforcing this because there is already this kind of system in place. No chips in your person that would set off to many alarms, bells, and whistles to who the Man is. He is much smarter then we.
   
   The Number of the Beast is simply this The 6th signs the vials, the trumpets, and the seals broken. These confirm the beast's Master has arrived upon the earth; again incarnate. In his GOD given body, which will look no different then our own except it is not hampered by the flesh.
   
   The beast is NOT a Man! It is controlled by the man, and It is ushered in by the man. This man will sell the world on the One World Order. Peace! Peace! He will cry but there will be no peace.
   
   He will speak  like a man and act like a devil. For this is who this man is the Fallen Lucifer called by GOD now as Satan who is the pretend Christ or Saviour of the world. The Anti-Christ! He will come before the True Lamb of GOD. And he will succeed in all he does, until he puts to death the two witnesses. Who will arrive shortly before he does.
   
   The Mark of a Man's caricature is his thoughts and what he labors for. And at this Time the whole world will come together as one body but there will be a remnant a small number compared to the rest of the world. who will be saying what it is I am telling you now.
