   Did you know that the heart of man or man's heart is mentioned almost 3,000 times in the bible?
   
   I believe this question above should give us all a moment of pause.  Why is our heart so important to God? God looks at the heart of man and knows the thoughts of our heart. How do we know if we really love God with all our heart?

      Ericdierker- I believe those of the carnal mind look at the physical aspect of the heart. It takes spirit mindedness to understand the value of the heart to have a relationship with our creater. God seeks the hearts of those who love Him.

   Two things come straight to mind.  What is in the heart is a reflection of the person.  "As is water face answereth face, so the heart of man to man." Proverbs 27:19  And if our love is for God, that's where our heart is too. "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."  Matthew 6:21

      Little Grandmommy- Jesus said in Matthew 5.: 8 (NKJV)  Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
      It doesn't get any plainer than that. I believe the human spirit dwells in the heart of man and it's the spirit part the seeks God.

   of course the "heart of man" the scriptures are talking about is not the blood pump.   It refers to the very essence of the man  who he really is inside.
   The most important thing about the "heart of man " is  that it is naturally evil beyond measure and must be changed if one wishes too follow God.
   
   Jer 17: 9 "The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked;
   Who can know it?  10 I, the Lord, search the heart,  I test the mind,
   Even to give every man according to his ways,     According to the fruit of his doings.

      Interesting choices of scripture to follow, untainted. I would think a little contextual analysis may be helpful. Allow me to suggest that a baby's heart is not evil.

      The proper form is "does the Bible say little children are evil?"
      
      And does Christ ever say that I am evil in my heart?

      I believe that a baby and young child has spirit just like adults. I would assume that  there comes a point when child and spirit become aware of right and wrong. Spirit is born with us and not something found later in life. A heart needs spirit.

      ED still waiting for scripture not opinion from you.   is your heart evil== unless you have been born again -YES   and the scripture about become as a child means believing and trusting like one.  Not pure because ALL are born in sin .   Check Rom 5:

      I am still looking for where Christ tells us what you say.
      
      If I were writing to the Romans of the time I would also speak as Paul does to them. And I would speak as he does in 1 cor. to Corinthians.
      Jeremiah is not speaking to Christians.
