   What's the most significant life-changing event in your life?
   
   Every event no matter how small or big affects our lives.  What's that one critical moment that turned your life around?

   I became a father at a very young age. When my daughter was born I had just turned 21. It forced me to grow up in hurry. Legally I was an adult, but now I had someone depending on me. I had to let go of a lot of selfishness. It just wasn't about me anymore.

   The turning point is when my child is born. It gave a new lease of life where I began to face new challenges of bringing them up.

   There have been many. But when I was a teenager I was left without parents and moved in with my aunt and uncle and I was horrible. I was selfish, angry and trying to get into trouble. I resented them and their rules and on and on.
   
   I was hanging out with the wrong people and I got picked up for drugs.  It was a mistake and I was released, but it scared me so bad I completely changed my attitude and my life. I became the model student, didn't cut class anymore, didn't lie.  It was a complete turn around at age 17.

   Seemingly small events can have profound influence, and it all becomes a process of change, or conscious evolution.
   
   There were many such "small" events in my life with potent influence. One that stands out was being penniless on the island of Maui with my wife, and after attending a presentation by Wayne Dyer on the university campus, we had to find a place to sleep for the night. We parted some bushes and saw a rusty, smelly junkyard and were too tired to go further so set up our tent in the weeds near a drainage ditch.
   
   Then the last rays of sunshine hit the rusty metal and turned the junk golden red. Kati and I relaxed into divine trust and felt so at ease, so at home in ourselves. We entered a state of bliss in the junkyard. Though we went later into jobs and apartments, that moment of knowing that we could be completely contented while owning nothing and having no prospects kept us through the adventures that unfurled ahead.
   
   "What's that one critical moment that turned your life around?"
   
   Meeting Kati was certainly one, told in the hub, 'Is Destiny Real?' Our finding each other propelled me ahead on a course I had already begun. A few years before that event, I sat at my desk in my office at Walk Through the Bible Ministries one Sunday and reflected on what I believe and why. There had been a traumatic event which triggered my reflection.
   
   Reshaping my worldview from dependence on what is written and what others say to what I know in myself, through the inner voice, was the most significant life-changing event. And it laid the foundation, when I chose to be true to myself, for me to make a complete change in my life from a 25 year relationship, living a "normal," secure and stable life in Atlanta, to driving cross-country to the Pacific Northwest, where I met Kati.
   
   And as a side note, seeing and enjoying that having children was the answer for some, though I won't have any biological children myself this lifetime, I will soon have the experience of being in the lives of our two small grandchildren.

   Deciding to have a child, even though I wasn't married. At the time, I had no qualms about abortion in general, but somehow I knew this child was meant to be born, even though a close relative advised against it. I cannot even begin to tell you the joy this child (now a young man) has brought into my life. To this day, we are very close. Frankly, I was one of the lucky ones in that his father chose to act like a real father in our son's life - even going so far as to move from one state to another to be near him. Anyway, this changed my life because I had the opportunity to be responsible for a life. It was tough financially, but it was worth it. Today, my son is a happy, balanced and very loving person. He is the kind of person who people love being around. I like to pat myself on the back (and his father too) that we managed parenthood quite well even though the odds were supposedly against us. Anyway, I've rambled on, but you get the picture.

   College is what turned my life around. For four years I researched and wrote everything I could. I found my true life calling on that campus. Actually, I should say "callings" because I now do two things I studied in school. I write and I do voice overs. I am very happy that I went to college and learned how much I didn't know before.

    Went to Maui on a one way ticket with $150 last feb 11 and survived 67 days before I came home with a wealth of friends and a conquered fear :0)
